what QB/QBs would you pass on at 6 to take the guard??
Allen. Mayfield. Then again I would pass on him for any guard.

Just about all of them .
Rosen is the most ready to play but I have some reservations about desire and durability.
Darnold is very over rated , Has a high ceiling but is a major project. Can't read a defense pre snap, does not go through progressions , if primary Reciever is covered, panics and runs, has terrible foot work , a long awkward slow release.
Allen has accuracy issues. That for me is a deal breaker. I don't know how much is on him though. His Receivers never got any separation and the games I saw, they also had some crucial drops.
Mayfield has serious baggage. Besides the resisting arrest , the crotch grab, intentionally hitting an opposing player in the head as he was coming on to the field for warm ups. A player who was just returning from a 2 week head injury. Mayfield had also done that at Texas tech. Funny thing is those who want to trade up for him are crying for Anderson's head. Both have alot of growing up to do. That said ,
He can flat out play but is a complete douche.
The QBs I was hoping to land are not coming out. Stidham and Lock. Lock would have been available in the 3rd or 4th and I think he could very easily turned out the best in this class.
I'm looking forward to seeing Allen in the senior bowl with legit talent around him and on the opposing D. He could change my opinion if he can perform well.
If we take a QB he will be the guy who Elway and the Giants judged inadequate. So an alternative plan would be, take the guard, get a center and possibly a defensive player in Round 2. DON'T resign McCown, let Petty and Hack guide the ship next year. With any luck we will be drafting second (you'll never out-Brown the Browns). Rinse and repeat until the next Elway/Peyton is in the top two slots and we can offer them the keys to an offense with a solid offensive line.
Lool lets be honest our best chance at a Qb is to get Tebow Married...then in 22 years we can draft his son.
When I run it through our computers it has to be CK
I'm a guy who cherishes a strong offensive line. You have a very good OL, you automatically have a good running game and your QB stays healthy. Taking Nelson at 6th will depend on what we do in FA. I wish FA started next week.
Now we just have to find a girl who can throw and get her to Marry Tebow.....
LOL Tony...that is the tough part..... But we do need a QB & cheaper beer costs at the stadium
I haven't been to a game in years,.................so I pick QB. Beer is a lot cheaper here on the mountain. Can't wait to see what Tony says but I bet I can guess.

Green Jets & Ham;n156382 said:There definitely is a thing called 'positional value' and I have to be honest, I don't love the idea of drafting a Guard in the TOP 10, particularly one spot away from the TOP 5. If we're staying put at 6, I would take the highest rated player on my board for the Jets:
1. Baker Mayfield
2. Josh Allen
3. Sam Darnold
4. Josh Rosen
5. Marcus Davenport
6. Saquon Barkley
Remember, this is not my TOP 6 value board for everyone, just for the Jets, and it definitely prioritizes a potential FQB
If all four QB's are gone, I'm taking Davenport. I think he's going to be an ELITE 3-4 Rush OLB at the next level.
If all the QB's and Davenport are gone, Barkley is the consensus "best player in the draft", same class as the elite young RB's like Elliott, Gurley and Fournette.
I know what you all are thinking, Chubb > Davenport, but only if we ran a 4-3.
In my view Chubb is a 4-3 DE, not sure if he's a good fit at 3-4 Rush OLB. Davenport actually played in a 3-4 in college and was predominantly a stand-up Rush OLB, so there's no guessing or hoping with him, and IMO he has a more explosive first step than Chubb.
Anyway, if we ran a 4-3 Chubb would have been #5 on my board for the Jets, but we run a base 3-4 and Bowles is not changing that for anything, he's already proven that, and he's taking over full control of the defense in 2018, so we're a base 3-4 team and FOR US the best edge rusher in the draft is probably Davenport.
As for why Davenport > Nelson? Positional Value. An elite edge rusher is more of an "impact player" than a guard. IMO its the second most important position in the NFL after QB. Its hard to win in this league without a FQB and an elite edge rusher.
Incidentally Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks both have Davenport going to the Bucs at #7 in their latest mock drafts, and Mayock raved about the kid too, called him a TOP 10 Pick, so in no way is he a reach for the Jets at 6.
[h=3]Pass Blocking[/h]Unlike the tackle position just being a good pass protector won’t suffice in the NFL. Nelson excels as a run blocker, which isn’t a surprise at his size. The first place where Quenton Nelson excels is pad level, Nelson comes out of the blocks low and with great leverage. Coming from a college that asks offensive linemen to put a hand in the dirt is a huge advantage for players at Notre Dame.
When Nelson comes off the ball he does so with a ton of power. Double teams are regularly road graters, moving defensive linemen off the ball with ease. Even on solo blocks, he has enough power to blow defenders off the ball. However, Nelson’s game isn’t limited to power, he is surprisingly efficient at the 2nd and 3rd level of the defense. Nelson climbs to the second level while he remains smooth and square. Very rarely does he lunge to get a block, and he shows a good understanding of angles for cutoff blocks. You can tell when looking at the Notre Dame offensive line that they are very well coached.
Nelson also has some intangibles you look for in offensive linemen. Nelson has the awareness to find another defender to block once he finishes his first block. He also has the mean streak to try and finish every single block. Pancakes aren’t a “stat” that most track, but more so an indicator. If a lineman has a ton of pancake block it means that he values finishing his blocks.
One thing that benefits Quenton Nelson in his pass protection is his size. Standing at 6’5? 325 pounds, Nelson is too wide for defenders to go around in the trenches. Nelson also has enough size to anchor himself with ease, which makes it very difficult for the defender to get to the quarterback. Most guards that have the size Nelson posses struggle in space, however that may be one of Nelsons biggest selling points to NFL teams.
Nelson moves laterally very well for a guard, regardless of size. For someone of his stature, he moves with incredible agility. Nelson gets left alone on an island at Notre Dame, so he has to cover a lot of ground side to side against defenders, and he very rarely gets beat. There are occasions where he is beat, but that is because there is an unreal amount of grass for the defender.
Another place where he excels is stunt recognition. Many college offensive linemen cannot identify a stunt and want to stay locked on to their initial block. However, Nelson keeps his head on a swivel and does an excellent job of seeing looping defenders. Once Nelson has his hands on a defender it is game over. Nelson has vice grips for hands and can lock down anyone who gets near him.
Good Counterpoint. :global (42):Okay, so you don't believe in taking a OG at 6th. You would want say an Edge Rusher like Vernon Gholston, or a WR like Lam Jones, RB Blair Thomas, DT like Robertson, CB like Wilson, and that great ILB we drafted the year before in Lee. Granted they were drafted with good intentions. You would pass on a OG who could turn out to be another Steve Hutchinson, or say a Center who may be another Mangold or a P Shane Lechler who always seemed to punt the ball inside the opposing teams 20 yard line. We have drafted the BPA in the last 3 drafts. Williams #6. A good player, but not an outstanding player. Same with Adams and lets not forget Lee. This is why, we are not in the playoffs year in and year out, Why, because we are the "SAME OLD JETS!!!" I don't question you on taking Barkley or Davenport. I just don't think that you should disqualify Nelson because he is a OG an elite OG. I respect your opinion as I have mine. That's what makes us Jets fans!
