How so? If he needs a ladder then Russell WIlson has been using a hot air balloon
He's taller than Russell by three inches and makes the same plays as him.
He is not even in the same class of an athlete as Wilson.
How so? If he needs a ladder then Russell WIlson has been using a hot air balloon
He's taller than Russell by three inches and makes the same plays as him.
He is not even in the same class of an athlete as Wilson.
But he also has greater accuracy on the deep ball than Wilson, or almost any QB out there.
That may be true in college, but since he has never thrown in the NFL it really isn't relevant. He better improve under center because he will get chased down in the NFL. He is actually pretty slow.
Well, that's true of pretty much everything. All we have to base on is his time in college.
I really don't understand the point, other than saying his positive attributes don't count because you don't like him.
Its well known I don't like him and if drafted I will be the biggest Teddy B fan and hope we trade BM at some point to recoup the 3 picks we traded for him. However I know he was very accurate in college. Those windows won't be wide open like 95% of his throws in college were. I know he has never played more than a handful of snaps under center. I know he is short. I know he is slow. The only attributes I can give him is his accuracy and his ability to be a douche.
I also said as soon as Teddy B was signed I could see a scenario that they draft him because they need to great leaders to teach him the ropes. If I'm wrong and he comes to the Jets and lights it up then I will be happy, but not if he does it with his arrogance. I don't want our FQB to be the dick of the league. I just think Baker likes to be Baker. I can see through his fake crying when he does something stupid.
I understand your dislike for him. And you are right that the windows are much wider in college than in the NFL. That is why accuracy is so important.
Because accuracy is so important, NFL teams have a choice between going for inaccurate college QBs or accurate college QBs. That's pretty much all they have to go on. So wouldn't they be best served choosing an accurate college QB?
They also have to look at character and past transgressions. And when they overlook those things it almost always comes back to bite them in the ass.
Josh Allen lighting it up in his pro day was good for the Jets.
They need Cleveland to seriously think about drafting him or if they draft Darnold, then the Bills move up to take Allen.
Get him off the board before the Jets have a shot at picking him. If te draft falls Darnold, then Rosen, Allen will be the pick for NYJ.
Of the top 4 QB's slated to go early in this draft, Allen scares me the most. Inaccurate at a small school, terrible numbers when playing against the better schools.
J. Fassel said he reminded him of Kyle Boller OOUUCCHH!!!!
If he is the pick, I hope he gets it quickly and has sustainable success for a long time. I believe us Jet fans deserve as much.
For the record, even though his medical worries me, i'd like Josh Rosen from UCLA.
I just had a crazy thought at 3:21am. What if the Jets are hoping Barkley drops to them? I know why would they trade up to 3 if they want Barkley, but they know Darnold is going 1st especially after his pro day. They could be thinking the Giants will take a QB. So they wanted to be in the best position to either take the QB they want if he is still there or they are flipping the script and taking Barkley since they knew they needed to be ahead of the Browns. If they traded 3 picks for Barkley the NFL world would have a field day with the Jets, but would the Cowboys or any team trade 3 picks for Zeke?? I bet they would knowing what he means to the team. The other side of this trade would be they got to 3 so that would force the Giants to take a QB or trade out of their pick and for the Bills to mortgage their future to get to #2 which would guarantee them the life long Jets fan, Saquan Barkley!!
I don't think this happens, but to be honest I would rather have Barkley than a project QB or Mayziel. I think Teddy B will rebound and get back to his previous form which could give us the FQB we have wanted and he is already a vet and still young. Just wanted to throw this out there. Stranger things have happened.
this is how I see the breakdown:
Baker Mayfield is the best QB all around right now...
Sam Darnold has the highest ceiling, long term success..
Josh Rosen is pro ready right now with tremendous accuracy and touch...
Josh Allen is a weathered raw prospect that has boom or bust rating...
Lamar Jackson is the wild card with immense athleticism with potential of being a cerebral passer...
of the top four it depends on the coaching staff what do they seek...
well we signed Bridgewater for multiple reasons, but football politics was the main reason... if he pans out we look like the smart team, if he doesn't it is because his injury held him back but we still win in the end, because we are the team that gave him that second chance...
Josh McCown named starter heading into the off season leaving the door open for someone to take the job albeit Teddy Bridgewater being the main competition...
Regardless of who else they keep either/or Petty or Hackenberg they could in the second year of a rebuilding year keep four QBs... Not saying they will but no one will slight them if they do...
So what should they do, well now they have to stand pat and wait for the chips to fall as they may...
Will anyone but the Browns be using the 1st overall Selection and who is that going to be: Still believe the Browns are in love with Josh Allen's raw potential and think they would be wrong in taking him here... They need a QB that has the highest ceiling with Tyrod Taylor under center for the short term, the pick should be Sam Darnold...
Regardless what the Giants select to do here, either trade out of the second pick or select their choice... If trade with the Bills they are head over heels for the ability Josh Rosen brings... Capable day one starter has mid to high ceiling but the potential of an accurate passer with touch to hit all levels is too enticing for the Bills to pass up if they do indeed trade up to No. 2 with Giants... The Giants had a meeting workout with Barkley but if they get the kitchen sink they may want to fill other major needs throughout the roster for long term rather short term success...
So as I see it right now:
Browns No. 1 take Sam Darnold
Giants Trade to Bills No. 2 take Josh Rosen
Jets on the clock: Mike Maccagnan likes his type of QB, Josh Allen raw talent high ceiling boom or bust label with Bridgewater and McCown in the fold... Hackenberg also in short term fold...
Browns No. 4 take Saquon Barkley
Broncos No. 5 are in the driver seat -- could draft Mayfield, or trade out and then go after Lamar Jackson
You think Mayfield is the best overall QB, but he’ll be the 4th QB off the board? Is that due to character concerns? Just curious.
You may be right about the Bills jumping us for Rosen. That would really suck if it played out that way. I like Allen’s long term potential, but I’d be a little nervous about that pick if I was Macc.
Baker Mayfield has all the football intangibles... He has good football IQ, good footwork in the pocket, mobility and a quick release with excellent velocity... He also is a very accurate passer, so when it comes to the overall comment it is his to his play on the field... His off the field is a concern, especially for a big market organization like ours is the real concern...
Rosen is better than AJ McCarron and is more pro ready then any other QB in the draft but can he handle the weather up in Buffalo is the question...
Maccagnan has a type of QB: Tom Savage, Bryce Petty, Christian Hackenberg making Josh Allen the logical choice a big arm QB that can develop with the right coaching and surrounding talent into a boom style options but there is that bust that will be lingering until he can progress forward...
I do believe Sam Darnold has the highest ceiling but will need to sit for at least one year, so him to the Browns is logical...
I wouldn't be against Baker, but am scared that the New York night life will eat him up...
with Bridgewater and McCown on the roster there is more of a chance for Allen to be that guy... Surrounding veteran talent that has similar makeup could really help him elevate to the next level and good thing is he shown more steady play over his college career of playing well even with lesser talent surrounding him..
I dunno... Just my thoughts...
Comparing him to Steve Young?? HAHAHA!!
