Now that former NY Jets QB coach David Lee is now a member of the Buffalo Bills coaching staff he had this to say when it came to Geno. He then back tracked.
"His play killed us"

Now Mr Lee, do us all a favor please? Walk in front of a mirror and repeat after me.
"Geno Smith's play didn't kill us. My lack of coaching ability when it comes to proper technique and game management killed us" 'Geno's failures the past 2 seasons are on my shoulders and I wish him luck in the future"

Man up Mr Lee. Oh, good luck grooming E.J. or whoever lands on your lap.

No, I'm pretty sure it was Smith's 41 turn overs that killed the Jets.

Coaching is everything. Yes, players make mistakes. But I'm giving Geno a pass due to his lack of coaching. You may be stuck with him another year. Chan Gaily will get the most out of him. And we all may be very happy once he does. Chan's spread offense is what Geno excelled at in college. He has only played 2 seasons.

Oh and I forgot to mention. Peyton Manning had 47 TO in his first 2 seasons.
He turned out O.K.

Geno Smith will have a lot to prove heading into this season. No one in charge of the organization is attached to him. Bowles is not, Mac is not, Geno needs to impress in order to get a shot

and yes, he sucks.

This is true, but he was the worst QB in the league, or very close to it. A coach doesn't make a QB that bad.

If the Jets bring in legitimate competition for Smith, and he wins the job, good for him. I really doubt it though. I disagree with Bowles on one thing so far, Smith sucked in college to.

Find A copy of the Pinstripe bowl. He also lost 6 of 8 of his last games with two of the better WR's in the country

Two, two and a half at most.....then I watched him stand around.with his thumb up his butt while buttfumble, Sparano, Geno, Marty and the rest of the offensive guys he was the head coach of dragged the Jets over the edge. What did he do about it.....

Praised them all to high heaven even as he was getting booted out

Peyton Manning has 52 touchdown passes in his first 2 seasons. Peyton Manning was 4th in the league in passer rating in his 2nd season.

Geno was the definition of overrated in college so I too disagreed with Bowles on that note. Watch his game against Texas Tech. I was shocked when I heard Geno was a potential 1st round pick. BUT I gave him a chance. He's shown glimpes of talent but nothing that points to him ever being elite. This next season is without a doubt his last shot. As for who's fault his lack of success and turnovers is blamed on, I'd say it goes on both of them. Sure, David Lee may be a bad coach but at the same time if Geno is bad then Geno is bad and there's only so far you can coach someone. The blame goes on both of them. Coach and QB.

Look what I started. Was just referencing turnovers. I remember when a QB held a clipboard for a few years then got onto the field. Geno was thrown to the lions in his rookie season. He wasn't ready at all. I guarantee better coaching and he can be a top 15 QB. We do not need an elite QB to win in this league.
Ask Rogers, Manning, Luck , Breeze. etc. They are golfing.

Anyone who watched Geno knew he wasn't day one ready...I have hope he will be better by the glimpses he shows...I also know he HAS to adjust to the speed of the game or this training camp he is history
