Not a fan at all but does think the fact that he is just an OC should make things better.

From the tales that Michael Irvin is telling, it sounds like Jets fans ought to be thankful that Chan Gailey is only their team’s offensive coordinator.
Irvin, now an analyst for NFL Network, played under the Jets offensive coordinator in 1998 and 1999 when Gailey was the Cowboys’ head coach. The former wide receiver said he thought Gailey had done a “pretty good job” as the offensive coordinator with the Steelers prior to that but then struggled communicating with players as a head coach.
“It’s more than just Xs and Os, it’s about managing people,” Irvin said on WFAN Wednesday. “If you don’t know how to do that you’re not going to survive, bottom line.”
The former Cowboys wideout recalled an incident when Gailey supposedly told linebacker Darren Hambrick that he would be playing, despite the fact that the coach didn’t really want him out there. Hambrick relayed the conversation to Irvin, who said he told Gailey that Jimmy Johnson would have taken a different approach.
“You’re going to have to motivate people and you’re going to have to approach people,” Irvin said.
Gailey was recently hired by Todd Bowles to be the Jets’ offensive coordinator. That his duties will be strictly reduced to just one side of the ball “makes it better,” Irvin said.
