I have a question for Elias and the others who run this place. not sure where to put it, so i figured this thread is as good as any.

can we get some clarity on how we should post on mock drafts (such as kiper's or mcshay's or other mock drafts published by the more reputable sites)?

i see there is a separate mock draft forum, but there seems to be a lot of overlap with the discussions going on on the main forum. i don't want to step on any toes, but imho, it would make sense to have the mock draft discussions on the main board, especially since the upcoming draft (along with free agency) will be the main topics of discussion for the next few months.

well we originally wanted a seperate place for draft talk to hopefully draw in the draft guru's I have moved some to the draft forum. I guess elias, mv,and I will talk about that tonight and let you know what we decide. We do have a suggestions forum also where you or anyone can give us suggestions/tips also you can always pm any of us.

We were quite active, but not huge in numbers. The post quantity was strong. Our discussions were lively, but without the personal bashing and other garbage you saw on some other forums.

Now, some people didn't like the more football-centric threads and basic respect we wanted from our posters. But a good number did. We had both a solid quality of discussions and a dedicated group of posters, even if our total membership was smaller than other boards.

JI was about the worst board that could have merged with scout. Our methods were polar opposites. They would have hated our more mature manner of discussing football, and we would have not liked the personal attacks and the chick threads. Not that most of us don't like looking at chicks, but there are plenty of places on the net to get that without it being on a Jets board. It was as if we were the older guys discussing the game, and they were the frat boys at the tailgate.
JI was a huge board so it had its fair share of all types of posters, including the nuts & bolts kinda football guys..

BTW, your description of what scout was sounds a lot like what NYJF is..

one door closes, another one opens..

Yeah, that's pretty much my issue with how everything went down. I don't like being lied to or have someone think that they can manipulate me. Sooth came to our board preaching peace and a friendly merger. At the same time, he belittled our community on JI, exaggerated the size of his community to make us inferior, and never had any intentions to make everyone feel comfortable.

This board, from the short time I've been here, has quality posters/discussions and just a really good vibe about it. Happy to be here and happy to see the community grow.

+1

lol i don't think i ever logged out

When I first joined Scout I never logged out either. At least not until I learned that board keeps you logged in if you just navigate away. I think a bunch of folks learned that at about the same time, and then the number logged in took a real nosedive. It had peaked at 600+ at one point. I wonder how many of the "online" users right now are really just folks who navigated away but never logged off. I'd bet it's a large majority of the number shown.

I'm not logged in there. What a scam.

Are you sure? Once you actually look for the logout and do it, I think it will take your name off the list, at least after some time passes, although the count of online users seems to take quite a while to go down. But you do have to intentionally log out, not simply close down your browser or navigate away.

I prefer draft talks on 1 board with football talk...I agree separate boards for college, basketball, and baseball talk...but draft talks would be nice if tied to the same NFL board to make it easier than navigating from forum to forum.

For some of us, scout was the third board, as some of the really old timers had migrated twice. Initially, there was the Jets board on footballboards.com, which was run by a guy who went by tvoman. He, myself, and later another guy (NYJets28) were running that board. In time, we moved to the Jets board at fanhome.com, which is where we picked up some others. hobson has been around for a long time, and I think it was on the fanhome board when he came aboard. hobson, do you date all the way back to footballboards.com, or was it fanhome when you came around? I don't recall.

Then, at least a good decade ago, we migrated to scout's Jets board, which was our longtime board. In time, some guys came and went, NYJets28 and tvoman left, and after picking up football51 to help run and moderate the board, all the stuff that happened last summer took place. That led us to scrambling to find another board, which we did. MV did a great job setting that up, and we got a lot of the old scout folks to that new board. And now we have arrived here.

It has been a long journey for many of us...for some, very long.

maybe we can make it a sub forum on the main board...........so that way it satisfies both people it will be on the board but not be on the board if you know what i mean?

Sack - i don't think i joined until it was under the scout umbrella. of course, scout itself has undergone numerous ownership changes. and who can forget the wonderful new platform they tried rolling out a couple of years ago...:smiley-angry046:

Oh, that rollout was just wonderful. :smiley-angry021:

If you came aboard on scout, you had to be there right at the beginning.

my scout profile says i joined in 2003. i actually had a previous username when i first joined, but switched to my ill-fated fellow wolverine's name in oct 2003 (at least i didn't go with askew35). so i probably joined mid-year in 2003 and became hobson54 in oct 03.

I'm not " logged in " there as I manually " logged out " but my name still appears as " online " as if I was still there.
