SPOILER ALERT! If you haven't watched tonight's midseason premiere of The Walking Dead, don't read any further!
Season 5B began right where the Winter finale left off, with the gang still reeling from Beth's death. This episode which was titled "What Happened and What's Going On" gives us, the viewers, insight into what the hallucinatory effects of a zombie bite for the first time.
It was a clever way to bring back some of the show's deceased and most notorious characters. Even though the midseason premiere wasn't as fast-paced as last fall's season premiere, it allowed for major character growth.
I was excited to see beth and the governor again, even if it was in a hallucination and the flashes of the farm (season 2) and prison (seasons 3 & 4) added a nice touch. Although, I could have done without Lizzie and Mika.
I was really shocked at the fact that the writers not only killed off another major character right after having already killed one in the previous episode BUT I had really hoped that they weren't going to kill off Tyrese.
His death though just reaffirms my belief about morality in the post-apocalyptic world which is that in order to survive, you must sacrifice all ethics. Tyrese COULD NOT live in the world of The Walking Dead because he didn't want to kill and he valued all life. He could not sacrifice his humanity for "the greater good" and because of that he had to die. He even said it in the episode "People Like Me, They Can't Live."
What were everyone else's thought on the midseason premiere? On Tyrese's death? On seeing Beth and the Governor again?
