Reading the original post would answer your questions... as I mentioned, cutting Larry would lead to a lot of dead money for Arizona, but it would also save over 10 million. When I look at Arizona I see a team that doesn't make sense keeping him. His numbers are down because they don't have a clear healthy qb,they just lost their defensive coordinator who was the reason they made the playoffs after losing 3 qb's. And he's not getting younger. They pay him 23 this year, and then he's a free agent. They're better off trading him, gaining a pick, and saving the 10 million for rebuilding moves. But the truth is I have no idea how they will approach this.

Agreed. They signed off on his contract, they have to deal with the repercussions. They will not get a pick for him at that cost. They'll have to cut him. But what about their QB's? I've read where Carson Palmer is expected to attend June's minicamps. Same for Drew Stanton. That's beside the point of paying a guy 23M a season.

Carson palmer is not nicknamed"the answer", he can play in this league for sure, but as a gm, I don't think you look at the situation as win now.

Why not? Didn't they go 9-1 with him? And he suddenly can't play??!!
Let's be real. If you could point out to sustained deterioration, I'd follow but you've got to do better than that. I'm not buying it. The Cardinals have every reason to be optimistic after last season.

He can play, like I just said. His problem is playing 16 games a year at this point.

Larry Fitzgerald is under contract with the Cardinals for 16 mill this year. They want him to take a pay cut, he doesn't want to be on a team with no qb and who just lost the strength of their team, Bowles, to the jets.

I like Bowles but Bruce Arians was coach of the year he's not exactly chopped liver and he's the one that made Bowles his DC..Out of all the people the Jets have hired as first time HC's (Yes Bowles was a interim HC for the Fins) he definitely has the most impressive background.. Besides being a DC for Grambling and Moorehouse in the college ranks and secondary and DC in the Pro's for Cards,Eagles,Fins,Jets and Browns he has executive experience with player personal with Green Bay..

Coach's don't play though. It depends on what the cards think they have. What I see is a monster cap hit for a great receiver, who Just caught 700 yards in a year when they started 9-1. You can get a700 yard receiver much cheaper.

Honestly I don't blow up the Cardinals, but I think cutting Larry is smart. Do they think they are going to win again this year? I look at them and see a good head coach, a defense that lost, by all accounts, an above average coordinator, who was loved. Continuity matters, I would expect some drop off on d, they are also losing Cromartie which affects pressure on other cb's. You need a good qb in this league, either they take a chance that palmer will come back and have a healthy season, or they think he's at the dusk of his career with no prospects behind him.
I would think they have a lot of good players going forward, but that cutting money this year to help find their next qb or retain those players is smart.
Why pay Larry if you don't have a reliable qb to pair him with? You're going to pay him insane money to play meaningless football, then in 2 or 3 years when they develop their qb of the future, Larry's going to be old.

I just hope MM is measured in his spending this offseason. This from Dick Cimini today:

"Money for nothing: Spending doesn't guarantee winning. In fact, six of the 12 teams that ranked in the top three in free-agent spending since 2011 failed to improve their win total, including all three of last year’s top-3 spending teams -- the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($147.3 million), Denver Broncos ($127.6 million) and New York Giants ($110.6 million). Those three teams saw their win total decline. How 'bout the champs? The New England Patriots finished 16th in free-agent spending. The more the game changes, the more it stays the game. Success still hinges on drafting and developing talent. "

Yea except for one thing, we have a ton of holes, and only a set number of draft picks. And we must spend most of our free money by rule. We can file out bonus money to lock guys up, but we would still have all the same holes.
