I see the Chiefs are in the red. It's going to be tough for them to franchise Houston. Denver on the other hand...how in the hell can they be so far under the cap after signing Manning, Ware, Von Miller, TJ Ward, Talib, Welker, Sanders. I don't know how that's possible and still remain 26M under the cap. They have a virtual all-star team. Something ain't right.
The Patriots are 5M in the red. It will be tough for them to franchise McCourty which was suggested here.

If they need money they will have Brady and a few other veterans restructure, push money down the road. Much the way Mike T used to. Brady probably only has a few years left. When the money comes due, he and Belichick will ride off into the sunset together.

They just did a restructure with Brady this year. How much longer is this guy going to play? His wife is worth over a billion. He's won 4 Super Bowls.
And how much is Revis going to cost? It's time to pay the piper. I can't see McCourty being franchised. The Jets need to go get him immediately. Number one FA priority IMO.

How much more can Brady or the team defer money? He's restructured a few times already. Eventually they will have to pay the piper for his deal.

The Pats know their window is closing, which is why they deferred so much, mortgaging the future for the present. It got them a fourth ring, but it will leave the cupboard bare very soon.

Wow, I hadn't even seen your post, and we both made the "paying the piper" analogy.
