The way you worded this post, you seemed to be defending revis in rebuttal to my comment that I'd prefer someone younger on a longer deal. I didn't suggest I'd never take revis, I said I preferred others ahead of him. I never said do nothing, nor have I seen any other members suggest staying put with our cb's is acceptable. With idzik gone, I am 100%confident we will have 2cb starters added through fa or draft.
I never said, we will never have a qb or suggest giving up. What I was saying is that we will have a temporary veteran stop gap this year, any drafted qb will need time to mature. You hope we draft a Brady type sleeper, but you don't plan on it. That means our qb play should improve each year, but that a 2-3 season timetable is realistic to be stable with a good young qb. Finding stability and youth at the qb position is the hardest thing in the nfl. And until you have it your team is floating in nfl mediocrity, while teams with Brady, manning, Wilson, luck, Rodgers, etc will be winning the Lombardi.
Revis is unique, and properly utilized to maximize his effect by bellicheck. He has lost a step due to injury, which still leaves him as an amazing player. Ne does not play him as a number 1, and certainly not as a lock down like he was in his prime. He's all over the field and switches up wr's. However, with bellicheck's schemes, he was brilliant this year.
I honestly think if Rex was here he would have a desire to return, but as it is I think we only get him if we offer the biggest deal. So, under the premise that we need 2 years to get our qb spot right, if we're lucky, why pay Revis 13+ per year, if he's going to be older and slower, right when we hope to making deeper playoff pushes. That money would be better spent on a wr or maxwell, Jackson, flowers type.
I said that fact originally, if you agree, then why did you reply disagreeing with the premise that maxwell, etc would be the smarter signing?
You can deal with your premises and conditions to sign certain players that you gauge to be second rate flying in the face of your contradictory statements and I'll stick with mine. Beyond that, I just don't really follow your post here as it seems to be twisted and riddle-like. Aaaahhh!!
We're not on the same wavelength here so I'm going to drop this discussion with you but thanks for the replies.
