The one forum rule at JN that was really great was the NO POLITICS rule. I recommend it for consideration by our 3 esteemed mods here

Not only dumbed down but outright lied to
The media's misinformation :hopelessness:
SARS,bird flu, ebola, false flags, where to start and end
Dare I say 9/11
No I better not

Careful! You wouldn't want to mention that more than 50% of the population finds inconsistencies with the 9/11 Commission. A figure that grows each year with the advent of the internet and awareness groups portraying facts that bring into question the narrative of cave-bound terrorists fooling our network of defenses.
But that kind of crazy talk (false flags, what's that?) would make one a target and have labels hurled at them of traitor, non-conformist, conspiracy theorist and the like. And why would the media distort anything? They would lie to us??
Stop it already. Commie!

it is amazing how they are saying we are brainwashed by john stewart when in reality news outlets and the tv have been brainwashing and trying to keep america dumbed down for years.

How dare you say we are brainwashed by the media! America is the mostest edumacated country in the world. And the media wouldn't distort news - this is a democracy.
We must plant the seeds of democracy into the fertile crescent of every country...

I've never watched him until I very recently saw some of his shows on youtube as I don't watch TV other than for sporting events. He is a brave, no-nonsense reporter of the truth (and funny as hell) who points out the ridiculousness in politics and media in general. He appropriately piles on the sarcasm towards to idiocies of our leaders and policies.

I always thought of him as a liberal hack in the past but since I no longer have any political leaning, see him with an open viewpoint and love him. He's the kind of voice needed in this country. One of awareness and dare I say, absolute fairness with no regard for the BS. Hopefully he reappears in some format because his style and directness towards the truth are important.

The problem is, it's a comedy show, and so many people say they get the news from him. You have to understand what you're watching, and what he does is start with a real story, and blends in dramatization, and so many don't pay attention to anything. A large group of the 18-30 crowd actually goes and votes based on opinions from a comedy show. They actually think the comedy parts are true.

I wouldn't agree that it's news, more accurately commentary on news or events. It's no different from the slanting opinions of all US media. It's rare to see anyone simply report the facts. As we've recently seen, the NBC news anchor certainly can't be trusted. What about Dan Rather during the Bush re-election campaign that he tried to smear? A reform for journalism without pandering to either side would be refreshing and possibly wouldn't be driving away some of these 18-30 year olds. But you're right in that this crowd is influenced by Stewart and his left leanings.

I wasn't even referring to his leanings, in his own words, it's satire. The sad part is we the people don't demand more of our reporters integrity. Some may, but not enough for channels to change.

We heard you the first time. Stop with the oppression, please or I'll report you. You can take your business elsewhere. It's not spilling out into the Jets forum content so keep your pants on, okay?

if they want to foce feed us kardashian, american idol, survivor crap then turn around and get mad when young people believe something that is staged, the fact is whether he is doing it out of comedy doesn't distort the fact alot of times he is right.
