Kellen Winslow seconds Chris Johnson’s view of the Jets

Chris Johnson isn’t the only former Jet who thinks the team failed to put his talents to use.

Kellen Winslow Jr., who spent the 2013 season on the Jets, wrote on Twitter that he agrees with Johnson’s opinions about the dysfunction on the Jets. According to both Winslow and Johnson, decision-making was taken out of the hands of head coach Rex Ryan and given to General Manager John Idzik.

“Chris Johnson is not lying,” Winslow wrote. “My role was never explained to me. Wanted to help Geno/Jets as route runner. Politics got in the way. #Idzik

The Jets were a mess during the Ryan-Idzik years, and there’s a widespread perception around the NFL that Idzik put Ryan in a no-win situation. That perception permeated the Jets’ locker room as well.

And that perception is why Ryan has landed on his feet as head coach of the bills, while Idzik will likely never get another job as an NFL G.M.

Yawn. Now Spanky is weighing in? Did he get charged yet for smoking fake weed and masturbating in public?

This is what happens when you can't hang on with a team because your skills are deteriorating. Blame a GM.

The only thing about this story that makes sense to me is that both players are on the offensive side of the ball. If true, then it shows how truly disconnected Ryan was from the offense. I could almost envision him having no input and/or interest in what players were brought in and who played how many snaps, and then deferring to the guy who signed the two players when they complained. To me the lack of continuity and general disorganization of the offense was a direct reflection of that disinterest.

Nah

It just shows that both players were bad at football, and delusional

I would just say the organization, coaches, and players were seldom on the same page. You have two players who are stating that their roles were not clearly defined and redefined as the season(s) progressed.

You may not agree with your role in the offense, but it should be clearly stated and defined.

It just shows poor communication throughout the organization.

But doesn't that ultimately fall on the coaches shoulders?

Coaches should set expectation with players. If the player has issues with playing time, they can talk to the coaches, or the guy in charge of personnel, the GM, but everyone should be on the same page.

The GM needs to stand behind the coaches decisions and have one voice, but their should be one voice and a clear set of expectations. The fact they are saying there wasn't one voice and clear set of expectations says something about Ryan and idzik not being on the same page and the players being left in the dark.

so which is the real rex ryan? the one who sticks with his veterans (see the landry brothers, willie colon, jeff cumberland) over younger players looking for a shot, or the one who let's management dictate playing time?

personally, i find johnson's and now winslow's stories hard to buy. rex is known to love his veterans, often to the detriment of player development on the roster. i find it hard to believe the same coaching staff that force fed us jeff cumberland over jace amaro acquiesced to the GM in not playing CJ. more likely, CJ's declining skills led to a reduction in playing time. and i say that as someone who applauded his addition last year.

It shows that both of these players are notorious cry babies.

The negative reflection on the team is that they shouldn't have been signed in the first place

All I know is that CJ wasn't approached by anyone to that point when we signed him and it was late in FA. It doesn't much matter what he was promised. What does matter is how he handled it. Teams will take note that he publicly trashed his last employer and it won't help his cause in FA. If any one of us said this much in a job interview, your resume would be shredded the moment you walked out the door. Unprofessional is the word. And he's demonstrated that the moment he walked in the locker room.

Good riddance, Chris, We hardly knew ye.

So, Idzik purposely sabotaged a player he himself brought in as a free agent? Geez....... maybe, Ivory is just the better and more productive back. We finished third in the league in rushing, so that wasn't one of our many problems. As for Winslow, he got suspended 4 games for PED use and couldn't practice during the week because of his balky knees. How much of a role did he expect?

Marty Mornhinweq deserves some of the blame. I love how it's never Rex Ryan's fault. lol

Besides all that, what was CJ thinking? He was going to take all the carries from Ivory? Mental midget.

Maybe now he has time to challenge cheetas to races.

I think both players are delusional but the Ryan-Idzik partnership was doomed to fail the day Idzik agreed to take the job knowing Rex was being forced on him.

Idzik can be blamed for some things last season, but this is now getting into looneyville territory. I thought the banners and billboards were the heighth of craziness. But now former players are blaming the guy. It's a great strategy, though. You suck too much to get playing time, and resort to blaming a pariah of the fans and media, with the intended result of keeping your value up as a FA.

So CJ and Winslow's agents will fall back on the "oh man, Idzik screwed them up last year" pathetic excuse.

I't really doesn't matter, I'm sure Idzik is now living in a cave in North Dakota with rich Koitite. No electric so they don't get the news
