We'll see. He turned down 5 years for 35M (7 per) last season. I'm not sure he's worth more than that...I definitely don't see 9-10 for him. If he had a stronger year, then yeah.
I see your comparables and maybe this market will dictate more for him as there's a lack of starter-caliber WR's in FA.

He could be a sleeper prospect. Can you see him in green and white?

Especially if Idzik was here, but I surely can. He's the speed/deep threat we're missing. He's a homerun waiting to happen where once per game he makes a 30-50 yard catch. He's a perfect compliment to Decker.

Smith's parents died when he was young and he raised 7 siblings. He's a super hard worker high character guy. He needs to refine his route running, but I could definitely see him as a fit here, a way better fit than Cobb, to be a perfect compliment to Decker, Kerley, and Amaro. Jets need a guy who can get deep, I dont think harvin turned into that guy for us even if the coaches tried, where Smith does that naturally.

I do think Smith struggled playing with Steve Smith, they bring a lot of the same qualities to the table. Steve Smith grabbed 80 balls this year.

I think a lot of Jets going after Wr in free agency will depend on what MCG and Bowles thought/thinks of Oswusu/Enemunwa/Shaq etc..and plus the ultimate decision that they do with Harvin.....they are in a good position with Harvin...his money is slotted already..so in early stages of FA if the Jets throw some hooks in the water of certain guys they can see if there is any bites, and if not they always know they have Harvin to keep at a set price already albeit with a 4th rd pick...I do not think there is any way they keep HArvin and sign a FA WR If they keep Harvin...they wud most likely draft a WR

I think Bowles and Mac look at the 3 names you list above as immediate roster bubble...I think McDougle, Winters, Dozier, Campbell, and Aboushi (Aboushi less maybe) are all fighting for their roster lives.

True although I think Dozier might have some upside and to be honest Mcdougle didnt play yet so who knows..but it would be interesting to see how he evaluated them coming out of school last year....

Also, Torrey is a monster redzone target, just too much wiggle to cover. I believe he caught 11 TDs despite having a 'down year." Steve Smith worked 20-20 and Torrey owned the redzone for baltimore this year.

Im not saying because they're on the bubble they wont rise to the occasion; what I am saying is if they don't rise to the occasion, they will likely be unemployed, because Bowles and Mac likely have limited interest in waiting for them to develop.

That's an interesting angle on why Torrey may have struggled this season. And great points on his complement to Decker, I agree. This wouldn't be a bad signing at all. Would you keep Harvin in that scenario for Gailey's offense or is that excessive? You might be able to get someone similar to Harvin's skill set in the 3rd with Phillip Dorsett (if he lasts) or Tyler Lockett which would at long last give the offense an array of competent WR's.

You definitely sound like a Maryland guy.

If we had not locked up Kerley last year, Decker and Smith outside and Harvin being the slot guy would have been ideal. I think Idzik and Co. saw harvin as a Maclin/DJax type who could develop into a #2 and keep Kerley #3 .

I think the team would need patience to develop into a #2 , but #3 like he was in Minn was/is a better fit. Now that we locked up Kerley, Harvin likely slides out with the new regime who looks to secure a natural outside WR...like Smith. I think he's a possibility. I'd be happy with the signing for sure.

I think Harvin would be relegated to #3 if they signed Torrey. Harvin has never proven to stick at WO.
And I wouldn't be surprised to see the new regime part with Kerley. They didn't extend him. They'd take a hit but it would be small.

But signing Torrey in FA would shorten our focus in the 1st, for sure.

I guess this thread morphed away from MO...BOTTOM LINE KEEP MO..

Agreed. the NJ kid that went to school in Philly and is a solid contributor to the community and is a quite leader in the mold of Shaun Ellis. I like him a lot.

Also, i dont get the overrated comment, I feel he's a top 5 dlinemen and if you asked me, if you could trade Mo for any dlineman, who would it be, there would only be 1 name on that list, Watt. If someone said, who else? My response would be no one. I wouldnt trade him for Suh or anyone else, to be honest.

Wilkerson if plays 16 games gets 10-11 sacks as a 3-4 DE, that's not normal, it's elite. Other than JJ, I dont feel there is a better 3-4 DE in the game than Wilkerson. My favorite dlinemen are JJ, Wilkerson, Richardson, and Aaron Donald (Donald is awesome).

me too. I think Mo might be a bit overrated. He's great, but something about him that I don't think he belongs in the elite category.

He's been the #2 rated 3-4 dl behind Watt the past few seasons. I think $12 mil per is more than justified. I also believe that his sack numbers would be higher in Bowles' scheme. Too often Ryan just asked his lineman to hold the point or drop off into zones.

What could they possibly think of them? There is no film of them. This is another good WR draft, think they will look there. Doubt they will sign any WR's early in FA.

After the draft they can reevaluate, see if the guys you mentioned have anything in OTA's, then see who bounces in the mini draft in June

There is no film on them correct but MCG is a scout..I am sure he has opinions on all guys Jets drafted in last 2 years...its not like Idzik coming in..his bread and butter with Houston was college scouting so I am sure he scouted them...
