I think the Bucs will take a QB #1 even though I don't view either QB as the best player in the draft, but based on need and positional value I'm pretty sure they'll take Mariota or Winston. I've gone back and forth on which one they'll take and I'm still not sure, but if it were me and my team played in a warm weather city/division where a QB can thrive without a cannon, I would take the much safer pick in Mariota. I might not if I viewed Winston as an Andrew Luck level prospect, but I don't, so I'm taking the kid who I know will work hard and keep his nose clean as the face of the franchise.
After the Bucs, I don't see a QB going in the TOP 5 unless there's a trade, so I believe 'the other guy' will slide to the Jets and Maccagnan will be under immense pressure to take him, but IMO it would be a mistake. First because I think Winston is far from a sure thing, and I don't only mean off the field, I see a lot of flaws in his game too, and second because I believe we would be leaving some elite prospects on the board to take Winston, #1 WR's like Cooper or White or elite edge rushers like Fowler and Ray. I hope Maccagnan can withstand the pressure and take the BPA at a position of need. If the board fell this way, that would be White, Fowler or Ray in my view, all of whom I would take ahead of Winston.
