I think a lot of us are gun-shy from the previous regime, and rightfully so. The trio of Evans, Saunders, and Enunwa, in a draft that boasted Mike Evans, Benjamin, Cooks, Mathews, Brown, Lee, Robinson, Watkins, etc, etc, would make any fan on edge. We want to see the impact players targeted from day one.

I hate commenting on subjects like this but I will say its only one season lets give it some time and see what happens

The old, 'Give it three years to evaluate' credo? Thank God Woody didn't need that amount of time to see the writing on the wall. I haven't written off Enunwa yet. I think he has potential to be a #3 type. Evans was garbage before losing the entire year with injury, and now he has to come back from something serious. Not a good bet. Saunders is already off the team. I don't care if he makes all-pro with the Saints, it doesn't matter. Idzik drafted and cut him in the same season so that was a wasted pick. So 2 out of 3 is safe to say was blown. Enunwa is the only hope left to develop into something.

but they didn't pick evans, saunders and enunwa over any of the WRs you listed. i believe everyone of the guys you listed were drafted before we picked the WRs. not defending the draft, which looks pretty bad after 1 year, but the comparisons would be pryor, amaro and mcdougle versus those WRs (and evans, beckham and watkins were all drafted before we even picked).

i don't need to revisit the 2014 draft for the 1,423rd time. it's not looking good, although it's way to early to call pryor, amaro and even mcdougle busts. but you should at least compare apples to apples.

the GM, scouts and coach that picked those players are all gone, and rightfully so. no need to hold mistakes of the prior regime against the new front office and scouting staff.

The forth WR you have in mind is probably Jaelen Strong?

He's another BIG WR, around 6' 2"/220, who put up huge numbers this year at Arizona State, and he surprised people by running in the 4.4's, nobody saw that coming. He should be the forth WR now and a TOP 20 Pick, maybe KC or Cleveland.
According to what I saw during the combine, his name is Beckham-something or something-Beckham. He is 6'4"-6'5"/230 or so and ran a 4.5 or better. They said he didn't play last year because of his off the field issues. He is a major head case but they say he has Randy Moss type talent. I think he played for Notre Dame. The 5th ranked WR was another big guy from Michigan who they say will most likely play TE in the NFL.

I do agree with this. This is a new regime so lets have faith in them and not hold them to what Rex did with Idzik and Tanny. I can understand other poster being nervous of who we will draft or sign in FAs and so I am for this very reasons but I will have total faith in the new regime. They know how much everyone was all over the last regime for their dumbs mistakes, plus their smart enough to know what this team needs as we all do. So I believe they will draft and sign the right guys in FAs.

You're talking about Dorial Green-Beckham and Devin Funchess.

I don't disagree with this but that isn't what I was saying. My point is that the fans are leery after last year's debacle, and when rumors circulate that we're doing our first interviews with a bunch of JAG's, fans get understandably nervous. I think everyone is going to give Mac and Bowles the actual draft before criticizing or praising their moves. But wanting to see names like Diggs, Greene, White, Cooper, Beasley, Ray, Dupree, Mariota, Strong, Fowler, Lockett, Conley, etc, associated with the Jets is perfectly normal.

the most recent update to that list from the OP was on saturday, so it's pretty dated. it lists 17 players that the jets are expected to talk to. this is 60 permitted, so it is still less than a third of the amount of players we will meet. i would not take this as an exhaustive list, but it nevertheless includes a number of guys we could be targeting in rounds 1 & 2, as well as what i assume are some mid-to-late round targets.

Here is a list of players confirmed for talks with the Jets. It will be updated throughout the week as more names are added. Credit to NFL.com and to NFL Draft Scout for scotuing details on each player.

• Jameis Winston, Florida State, QB
Winston could be the top pick overall.

• Marcus Mariota, Oregon, QB
Mariota, like Winston, is the only quarterback projected to go in the first round. He could also be a trade chip.

• Kenny Bell, Nebraska, WR
The 6-foot-1, 197-pound Bell is a projected late-round pick. He also has an outstanding Afro.

• Devin Funchess, Michigan, WR
Funchess is big (6-4, 232) and can be dangerous after the catch, but drops are an issue. Projected first or second rounder.

• Keith Mumphrey, Michigan State, WR
Mumphrey is considered a hard worker, but he sometimes struggles to get open.

• Brandon Bridge, South Alabama, QB
The Ontario, Canada, native is a late-round prospect. He said he met with Jets quarterbacks coach Kevin Patullo on Wednesday night.

• Tre McBridge, William & Mary, WR
Has drawn comparisons to the Patriots' Brandon LaFell, but also said to lack acceleration.

• Brandon Scherff, Iowa, OL
A likely top 10 pick capable of playing inside and outside.

• Cedric Ogbuehi, Texas A&M, OT
CBSSports.com's NFL Draft scout has a third-round grade on him.

• Michael Burton, Rutgers, FB
Per NFL.com, Burton lacks the size and blocking ability to be a full-time fullback, but he can catch passes and could have value as a special teamer.

• Bud Dupree, Kentucky, OLB
One of the top edge rushers in the draft. Projected first rounder.

• Jamison Crowder, Duke, WR
Crowder clocked an (unofficial) time of 4.56 in the 40. Projected second rounder.

• Leon Orr, Florida, DT
Orr once left the team after being told he wouldn't start a game. Considered an athletic interior D-lineman who could go in the late rounds.

• Marcus Peters, Washington, CB
Projected first- or second-rounder who plays with physicality but was kicked off the team at Washington after frequently butting heads with coaches.

• Landon Collins, Alabama, SS
The top safety prospect in the draft, Collins is a possible top 10 pick.

• Shaq Thompson, Washington, OLB
Thompson is considered to be one of the top three outside linebackers in the draft.

• Shane Ray, Missouri, DE
More info on him here.

I think Gregory, Fowler, Beasely, and Ray would argue if Dupree and Thompson were in the top 3 pass rushers. They sound like trade back prospects...

Thompson is not really an edge rusher, he's more of a 4-3 OLB, Mayock seems to think he can play safety too, but these other guys are being looked at as potentially elite 3-4 RUSH OLB's.

That said, I said it before and I'll say it again, do not sleep on Bud Dupree. He has as much a claim to being an elite edge rusher in this draft as any of those other guys. He's bigger than all of them, significantly bigger, but just as fast as the fastest of them (ran in the 4.5's like Beasley), and his credentials as a pass rusher in the SEC are impeccable. This is a kid who can easily get drafted a lot higher than his consensus projections, which seems to be the middle of the first round, but don't be surprised if he leaps one or more of these other guys we've been talking about.
