+1This would be a major win for us and the new regime in the 1st draft. Was listening to Mike and Mike this morning and Golic was spot on. It's easy to get swayed at the top of the draft with all the holes you have to plug. Most teams drafting that high have a lot of roster issues. But the bottom line is you're not winning jack in this league without the QB.
The thought of going into next season with Geno and Fitzpatrick is nauseating to me. Mariota gives us the best chance to build something long term and eventually a super bowl. His upside is better. You have to keep rolling the dice on that until you find that guy.
So, ya, I'm onboard with going Mariota in round 1 and then someone to help him on offense in round 2: Todd Gurley, DGB, Perriman, Cam Erving, Jalen Strong (if he drops).

I completely understand the logic. I don't disagree. And I won't be upset if we take Mariota. But Jets fans better not expect too much year one, or they'll most likely be very disappointed. Our fan base is notoriously impatient, and quick on the trigger to throw people in the trash bin. Mariota isn't going to come in here from a spread offense, first exposure to NFL defenses, and limited chemistry with new receivers, and guide this team far right away.
I wouldn't be disappointed if Mariota is the pick, but I also wouldn't be disappointed to see something like that Philadelphia trade scenario that all the draft geeks are proposing: Foles, 20th, 2nd this year, 1st next year. This team needs a lot of new parts.
I want him gone by #6 . I want a WR like Cooper or White.
That's still the most likely scenario IMHO
