I'm listening to Mark Dominik talk about how Revis loves winning, and the Pats have a real chance at a big hometown discount.

BASED ON WHAT?

Come on! The Pats bias is just ridiculous.

Just like the discount he took from Dominik when he was GM of Tampa. You know, no state tax in Florida so revis took a salary cut to make up for no taxes, right? Wait....

Good players on Pats I am sure get to a point they know how much they get paid and win....they will NEVER be revered the way Brady and Belichickin are bowed down to, and I guess for the most part they have won regardless of the team around them........Revis could win 2 more super bowls there and they are not putting up a monument there for him..It will Be Kraft, Brady and Belichick in that order...Belichick knows defense..if he thought that Revis was still that good..he would try to have him renegotiate a longer deal or something...but even though they won this year..Belichick knows it was dumb luck/stupidity because of Pete Carroll....Revis was NOT a difference maker for Pats this year...there was probat least 6-7 players more important that him on the Pats...

...well, Baldwin didnt do anything in the Super Bowl vs Revis other than when the ref took him out. I still saw Revis look like revis this year, and he's never been a big INT guy. I can agree with the argument he's 30 so do you pay a guy that old that much money, but he was a top 3 Cb in the NFL last year. i dont think that's debatable, IMO.

This story is being reported by serial liar Manish Mehta, so I take it with a grain of salt. But with that said...

This would be a final contract type deal, so I fully expect Revis to ask for 5 years, and a boatload of cash. It's gonna be a contract that pays for what you'll get for another three years: dominant play from him. Then you'll be stuck with a 34-35 year old has-been who's overpaid and not performing up to the deal. But this is how it works unfortunately. You pay for the "now" (3 years), and have to overpay for the "then" (beyond that).

Revis is still a top 5-6 CB in this game. And it's no mystery where this team is hurting badly. For that reason, I'd be in favor of shelling out the big bucks for him. He'd be an immediate big upgrade to the secondary. And, it would hurt NE's defense.

And that's QB until that is settled why put great tires on a car with no engine?? I rather go with young guys in the draft,Cro and Maxwell in Free agency and see what Dexter McDougle and Milliner do in mini camp..

I think Revis is a great player..but I think his greatness was negated a little where their offense carried their team for most the time.and I know its a team game...On the pats last year..I think at least Brady, Gronk, Edelman, Gostkowski, Wilfork, McCourty arguably Jamie Collins who has come into his own as a great 3 down LB and covered the TE, were more important than Revis...

who knows I think if Jets get him fine..at a reasonable cost..but I wouldnt break bank for him....it doesnt excite me too much to see him running out of the tunnel opening day...hes just another guy in a green shirt I root for

I actually feel like Savage...the jets are at least 2 years away from a play-off run, best case scenario, and Revis will be 32 by then. I'd rather have a younger option, say maxwell, Jackson, Culliver, etc that can grow into a winner as the Jets grow into a winner and still be in his prime when we need him to be. I think the ship has sailed on Revis being in Green and White for the jets. As an organization, it doesnt make sense to invest in high priced 30 year old players, that's what the Raiders do. If Miami or the Bills thinks he makes them batter than the Pats, have at it. I think we need more than revis, and we need younger than revis...

Good to see someone else with faith in McDougle. Other than what I saw in college I cant justify why I think he'll breakout but its not the craziest presumption.

Well, he hasnt faced live bullets in 3 years of any kind...so I think its boom or bust. He's just as likely to make the roster as not make the roster, IMO.

I was hoping he'd stay in NE, and we'd sign McCourtey and either Maxwell/Culliver/Jackson at cb.

I agree with both. We need a lot more than DR. I just don't see the point of buying this guy. Pass.

All this news that we are interested in Revis must have the Pats happy because isn’t this consider tampering? He still is under contract with them.

I've heard Woody and Craft had a conversation about the tampering and that the charges wouldn't be filed. But at the same time I can't remember where I heard that or how credible the source was so who knows.

What Woody said was tampering, and could lead to the loss of a late pick. That's generally what happens.

The papers speculating, though, isn't tampering.

What I want to know is, if Woody calling Revis a good player during a press conference is tampering, isn't is also tampering for the Patriots to convince Blount to get himself released from Pittsburgh so he could go back to the Pats? Actually, isn't it much more blatant tampering?

+1 Agree. Younger, faster, & cheaper is the new motto. We can get two very good FA for what Revis demands.

Go Jets...Cyborg

Pats, Revis talks haven’t happened yet, but will soon

One of the biggest names in free agency belongs to someone who isn’t a free agent. Patriots cornerback Darrelle Revis is signed through 2015, under a contract that pays out a fully-guaranteed $20 million if Revis is on the roster as of March 10.

Before the Patriots have to decide whether to keep Revis at what would be a cap number of $25 million, the Patriots and Revis will try to negotiate a long-term deal. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, talks have not yet commenced.

They’ll necessarily begin soon. But there’s a chance they won’t begin Monday. Here’s our best guess (not report, but guess) on how they’ll unfold.

The Revis camp likely will know what other teams would pay Revis, if he becomes a free agent. Technically tampering, it’s become common for agents to “gauge the market” when faced with a Door No. 1/Door No. 2 dilemma.

Though Revis has a reputation for chasing the biggest offer, he could decide to take less than what he could get elsewhere to stay with the Patriots. The question becomes how much less would he take?

Another key factor likely will be the amount of money that is fully and completely guaranteed at signing. At a time when the Seahawks may be considering a higher full guarantee as part of a deal with a lower annual average for Russell Wilson, a device like that could be a major factor for Revis.

However it works out, there are three options: (1) Revis signs a new deal with the Patriots; (2) Revis is cut and signs a new deal with another team; or (3) the Patriots keep Revis at $20 million for 2015.

The third option is unlikely, because the parties contemplated that the contract signed in 2014 would be a one-year deal. While Revis wouldn’t like it if the Patriots don’t cut Revis loose absent a new contract, he’d show up for work, earn the $20 million, and inevitably head toward the open market in 2017, since it would cost the Patriots a whopping $30 million to apply the franchise tag.
