Road Warriors
Three of the Jets' four wins this season have come on the road. They've averaged 27.3 points per game on the road compared to 20.3 points at MetLife Stadium. The Green & White's offense has similar yardage totals – 1,028 on the road, 1,030 at home. Defensively, they've allowed 326.6 yards per game away from MetLife Stadium. After allowing 405 yards in their first road game at Cleveland, the defense held Pittsburgh and Green Bay to under 300 yards averaging 15 points allowed.

Last season, the Jets went 1-6 on the road, including a 26-0 loss at Denver in Week 3. On Sunday, the Green & White have a chance to match their highest road-win total since 2010.

"Youth doesn't know any better," Saleh said. "Our guys get up, they play, they don't care about the venue. They just show up and they're having a good time. As I said, our guys don't flinch and there's no point in the game where they feel like the game is over. They keep fighting, give another team 60 minutes and see what happens."

Denver's 'Legit' Defense
While the Broncos rank 31st in scoring offense with an average of 14.8 points per game, they rank No. 4 in scoring defense, allowing an average of 16.5 points per game. The defense ranks top-10 in total yards (No. 3), passing (No. 5), sacks (T-4) and red zone (No. 1).

Denver has a talented defense headlined by OLB Bradley Chubb (5.5 sacks) and CB Patrick Surtain II. According to Next Gen Stats, Surtain II has allowed 142 yards on 35 targets this season, the second-fewest yards allowed in the NFL (min. 30 targets). The No. 9 pick in 2021 has 5 PDs and 1 forced fumble.

"Their defense is legit," HC Robert Saleh said. "They have a big-time defense. … It is arguably one of the top-three units in ball and they are relentless, so it's going to be a great challenge."

He added: "It's the same defense that we saw last year that put a whooping on us. They are playing at a very high level. They're operating at a very high level because it's Year 4 for them now. They're hitting on all cylinders. While their front doesn't have any big names, they get after it. Then their back end is as good as anyone as anyone in football."

Banged Up Broncos
Denver has some banged up horses. The Broncos have eight players on injured reserve and soon to be nine (a league high) after OLB Aaron Patrick tore his ACL in Week 6. He is the fifth player on the roster to tear an ACL. Other Broncos starters on IR include LT Garrett Bolles, RB Javonte Williams, OLB Randy Gregory, WR Tim Patrick and CB Ronald Darby.

Additionally, QB Russell Wilson is dealing with shoulder and hamstring injuries. Wilson underwent a procedure on his right shoulder after playing on "Thursday Night Football" in Week 5 to try and alleviate some discomfort. He then hurt his hamstring in Week 6 on "Monday Night Football" and received an MRI. Broncos HC Nathaniel Hackett said Wilson is day to day.

"With Russell, he's the ultimate competitor," Hackett said. "He's going to do everything in his power to get out on that field. We have to make sure that he's healthy enough to be able to go out and play at a high level. Whoever has to go in, whether it's Ryp [QB Brett Rypien], [QB] Josh [Johnson], or anybody, I feel confident that we will try to build a plan for them that makes them successful."

Great opportunity here to pick up a dub. Kinda sense Russell will sit this one out. There's one game where Ryp started (against Jets btw). Was a challenge to sit and review that game again (there's only one thing I can thank Gase for... Joe Douglas)! We'll know something about whomever they put out there. Slow down their run game, and man up their receivers. Broncos defense was on the field 83 plays Monday. Short week should favor us here. We have too much steam to outlast them. Slight issue with the high altitude but from what I gathered Salah has them prepared this week for that. Plus I'm sure he wants payback for last year.

The success of our run game is critical this week. Not so much to keep their defense off balance, but to wear them down for the fourth quarter. The Broncos are undisciplined. They play hard and physical but continue making mental errors. We must match their intensity, play complimentary football, and take what their defense gives us. Another managing game for Zach. Let's be honest here, with the other phases playing well he really doesn't have to do much besides take care of the ball. A quick passing game mixed in with runs to the perimeter should do. I see a rather low scoring game until we capitalize on short fields created by turnovers, and eventually distancing us from them in the fourth quarter.

Special teams is the x-factor. Our kicking game needs to be on point. Pinning them deep making them have to go the length of the field. That's where the mental errors will do them in. Jets go 5-2.

Interesting article from JetsXfactor, an analytics based site. It basically said the Jets WR’s are struggling against man coverage, and that is a big factor in the passing game being down the last couple of weeks. Jaire Alexander blanketed Garrett Wilson all game long. Corey Davis and Elijah Moore have struggled to get open as well the last few weeks, especially Moore.

I guess Denver plays a lot of zone, but expect the copy cat approach. They’ll watch what GB did against us and probably use the same scheme. It went on to compliment the Broncos CB’s as “very good”. I think we’ll be running the ball a lot again.

I think we still win this but it will be because of our running game and field goals. I Think our defense against their offense will be every bit as effective as their defense against us. I also think our offense has the edge on scoring ability over their offense so we will outscore them,.......if this even makes any sense.............................. ;)

i absolutely hate this game.
Our D will keep us in it, but Breece and MC aren’t gonna save the day this week. Zach is gonna have to win this one, which I don’t think he will do .

I will feel better if Zach plays great and we lose as opposed to Zach playing like shit and we squeak out a win

Historically, I hate this game. Going to Denver against a good defense with a developing Jets QB. It’s got the vibes of trap game. You just feel like the offense is going to be stuck in the mud all day.

But then again, after what I’ve watched the last three weeks, this team feels different. It’s a hard one to predict. I think Lafleur is going to try to loosen up the defense with some short passing routes, and then when the defense starts to respect the pass a little more, you hammer them with Breece Hall and Michael Carter. At least, that’s what I’d do. I see Denver stacking the box to start the game.

I disagree. I want to win no matter how Zach plays. I don't expect the Jets to win any game this season. I just want the winning to become contagious.

Without him is right. He’s inactive.

It’s Denzel Mims time. Active for Sunday.
This is just absolutely horrible. Mims gets his shot and hopefully he makes the best of it but Moore is arguably our second best WR. I really hope they can figure this out and keep all these guys!

Agreed, talent-wise, that EM is very good. But he’s got some serious damage control ahead of him if he wants to be back in the mix with this team. He demanded a trade while the team is winning. I don’t know that there’s a worse look than that. It screams “me” over team.

All these good vibes around the team right now, and Elijah has to make waves. It was a very bad decision on his part.
