Zach has turned the corner …..

The outside world is still adjusting to the fact that the Jets are winning games. Expectations were low from the time the schedule was released. They have to justify their reasoning with something lacking to critique. First it was the coaching, Flacco is passing too much. Next came the taking receipts press conference. Then the sideline exchange with Quinnen.

They can't down the defense, running game, or special teams. So now the big deal is injuries to key players, Elijah's targets and the lack of passing. Imagine if we lost games with Zach throwing picks, falling behind by more than two scores, and the defense not getting off the field. Many games are not clean, and for what it's worth Zach missed opportunities last week, but he didn't lose the game. My biggest concern with the offense is 3rd down conversions. Once that gets cleaned up (44%+) we will see the Zach we are all waiting to see.

The defense is supposed to carry us early. Consider these four games his preseason cause he missed it. The next two games are against great passing defenses. I want to see our TE's get more targets down the middle of the field. Let er rip Zach. Don't second guess by holding the ball extending plays. Guys are open and play calling is based on timing. The defense can overcome some mistakes. Just look at the penalties.

Just look at the standings. We are two games ahead of the pats and are still 1.5 point underdogs. Keep doubting us, please.

There are times in the world of sports when you can see an athlete evolve. I remember clearly watching the early bouts of Mr. Oscar De La Hoya. You could see his mentor in the corner at work, Mr. De La Hoya listening intently. He would then go out into the ring and execute.* Did the coaching work? You can look it up in the record book.

Mr. Zachary Wilson, from week to week, is evolving, too. He's more willing to end a fruitless down with an overthrow and his lateral yardage is decreasing. The fit between his abilities, and they're there, and the team around him is better and better as the season progresses. As his style of play changes, it's also toward one in which his probability of injury decreases. That's an often overlooked good.

Go, Gang Green!

As long as pics don’t come out of Zach wearing fishnet stockings and dressing like a woman
He’s the man !!!!

Of course :

Not that there’s anything wrong with that !!!!!!

letsgo!!!!!!!!!

Hi, Bigmoe!

Yup. Even in fishnets. We have to learn to accept quirks.

For instance, I like coffee rings. You know, those things with a hole in the center and icing drizzled on top. You don't think it's strange that I like them, do you?

Of course not.

You should come over and see my collection. I have over 250.

Gotcha!

Hope it provided a grin.

Go, Gang Green!

I’m glad we got Wilson and many in here didn’t want but me. Zach has abilities “if” we would have helped him developing with a good O Line and Vet WR! But we didn’t do that in second year. So now I’m not sure which way Zach is going to turn out. Running around like a wild man isn’t his game! Got to give him time, just 3 seconds. I noticed Zach scared to let go a few times being chased and got to make quick decisions a second earlier. Pats are gunning for him like last year and will bring the hammer trying to hurt him like last year. If that crap happens again I may not watch another Jets game if Zach’s out. Wished Jets had learned from KC, Bills how to make QBs take next step and it protection giving time to pass to a VET WR open

I agree with Simms Zach hasn’t looked great, but we played the #1 and #2 pass defenses back to back, and the Oline was a sieve last game. I’ll admit I wasn’t happy with his performance against Denver, but after a re watch, he wasn’t that bad considering the Oline and lack of weapons after Breece and Davis went down, and no Moore to even start with. I also believe Lafleur wanted to run the past 2 weeks, and justifiably so…. So that didn’t spotlight Zach. Lets see what happens with a more balanced attack in the next 3 weeks. It’s funny….we thru the hell outta the ball for the first 3 weeks ( Flacco) and ran the hell outta the ball the last 4 weeks (Zach). I would have thought it would have been the reverse

More importantly, what have the results been after throwing the hell out of the ball vs running the ball more?

Zach Wilson will be fairly evaluated at season’s end. Let’s see what happens when all the games have been played, with a larger sample size.

I was really hoping Jets would have figured out how to develop a high risk reward QB and built the O Line and Vet WR like other teams have done. We didn’t and Zach has regressed. So if we do get Zach protected he will be far to jumpy and run out of protected pocket or throw ball away or INT. All this WR are great talk is funny because we don’t know right now. This is why you want a proven Vet WR that Zach knows will be open and catch the ball in a must have situation. This Pats game remember last years games and what they did to Jets O Line chasing Zach with no time? Same thing this week, if they don’t injur him with cheap shots like last time. Are we the same old Jets? Far as building up our QB confidence and skills ? Yep same old Jets can’t develop a high risk reward QB because GM don’t know how or wanted to build Defense for HC. Either way it’s bad for Zach and unfair to him with this pile of crap offense and if Zach gets hurt again everyone with say he’s injury prone not a franchise player. Watch Pats get 3 turn overs on our 20 turned into TDS. I hate Pats more than anyone, but our GM didn’t fix enough to help Zach confidence and get better in 2nd year and left it the same for him by not fixing O Line and Vet WR as we will see this Sunday I expect to be furious in a loss and Zach hurt.

BTW I wanted this GM, HC ,and QB, and would have jumped after 55 years if Jets didn’t get them. Still I’m not happy with development of Zach progress by what wasn’t done to make sure our number 2 QB pick succeeds. Plus a home beat down by Panties running up score injuring our QB from not fixing this for Zach will make it worse. 3 years for Jets and in year 2 it’s not good other than a paper win record 5-2. I rather have a 2 win against Pats this year and losing season than lose Sunday

So I will say, Douglas did build the line, but no GM can account for the sheer amount of injuries we’ve sustained. Becton/Brown/Fant/AVT/Mitchell are all either on IR or have been on IR. I don’t know if any team can lose five O-lineman and still field a decent unit.

Davis/Moore/Wilson/Mims/Berrios IMO is a pretty good unit of receivers and provide big play ability. Zach is jittery in the pocket and seems late on his reads. I would love to see them simplify his reads (more slants, more quick outs), he just isn’t ready for the deep throws and isn’t getting enough time in the pocket to complete those. He definitely isn’t comfortable and hesitates on throws, which that needs to be fixed.

Is he the QB of the future??? I don’t think anyone can answer that at this point. But I’d like to figure that out sooner than later. Last two games were against top defenses with stingy secondary’s. I understand going run heavy. I just don’t want them to keep handicapping him. He is going to learn through making mistakes and testing his limits. He can’t do that if he is forever fearful of making a mistake.

Next few games should tell us a lot about the QB and our OC.

I’m starting to think this guy is reading our posts here 🤣🤣

From the breakdown, seems like LaFleur tried a lot more easy throws for Zach “in the Denver game”. That being said, that’s a very tough game to gauge QB play. As we’ve all pointed out, they are a top flight defense and have made every QB they’ve played look bad LOL. Not the defense you want to gauge a young QBs play against 😂

While ZW may not be blowing the doors off with flashy stats, he is impressive with one stat, actually the entire offense is, and that is ball protection. Over the last 14 weeks, ZW has been impressive in this regard. Randy Lang wrote an article on the Jets site with some details and stats highlighting this.

I know we have to account for all the injuries. We are still a work in progress. We need a LT, OLB, MLB and a strong Pass Rush. Zach needs to step up. I'm not sure if it's on Zach or is he being handcuffed by OC LaFleur.

Huh? O Line is awful and WRs avg. Zach has to run around to give time to pass or give WRs time to get open. We look good against bad teams but against the Pats and coach that hates us….. we have zero chance to win any Pats games.

I do like the Pats idea and punish a beat down Jets at end of game. Nice touch at home! Wait til in their house and it will be a loss by 40ty and another smack down by Pats

Zach needs to be smarter chucking the ball places where he shouldn’t. It’s something he has to overcome by season’s end. He has to overcome this.

The pass protection is leaky. He’s constantly having to run out of trouble. I don’t see Wilson standing comfortably in the pocket enough. The o-line needs some work. Good news is we can hit the o-line hard in the draft next year. And we’re getting AVT back.
