Hear the thing, for me, about Payton, does he have a winning record without Drew Brees?
He had an all time great QB, that played half their games indoors. When Brees hung it up, so did Payton.
I just wouldn’t want to get suckered like the Knicks did with Phil Jackson. An all time great coach as long as he has Michael Jordan/Scottie Pippen then Kobe Bryant/Shaq.
It’s amazing how well a guy can coach when he has the best players on his team, someone ask Bill Belicheck how much fun it is to coach/cheat without Brady.

Ask belichick how much he likes coaching without his offensive line coach Dante Scarnechia. The first time the guy retired, belichick got him to unretire after one season. He’s the reason brady got to stand on his X for 20 plus years

You could say that about almost any head coach. I don't think Payton will be the head coach of the Jets, but no option should be off the table. If Saleh wins the next two it won't be a question but if he loses the next two then it should be an option. We were 6-3 for fucks sake and we are 7-8. If we end up at 7-10 then thats a colossal collapse even for the Jets.

The worst thing Woody can do is inject himself into things at this point. If he never believed in Saleh then he shouldn't have allowed his hiring. Two years into the process, they have shown a ton of growth and development. Sure plenty of mistakes have been made, but this isn't a sure fire process.

Even with LaFleur, I've been as critical as anyone on his stubbornness and limitations. If Saleh feels it's time to move on (I'm all for it), if Woody is pulling a power play and pushing him out, then that's just an abuse of his power and not the proper way to handle things.

Can We Please keep an HC for more than a couple of Season's? It's not like He's Gase. Significant improvement is what was wanted. Well talk of playoffs and being included in that conversation is just that. Sure there have been ups and downs but welcome to the NFL. Saleh has earned the right to Coach this team......for now.

Here’s the problem with that, when MW is playing the offense looks ten times better. Even in the two games they lost. I’m sure (or guessing) that they ran the same offense/plays for both QBs. If that’s the case then can will still blame MLF or Saleh? Maybe it’s just Zach!!! Some people just have it or can get it and some can’t! These two games will tell ALOT, I definitely agree with that! Let’s see what MW can do.

I don't disagree that he is going to want "something" done, and it's his team so it's his right.

But injecting yourself in the middle of a process to make a power play "just because you can" and not "because you have the knowledge, skills or ability" to actually make an educated decision on the matter, is absolutely the WORST thing he can do.

It's a kneejerk reaction that may make the situation worse, not better. The right play is to get your GM & CS in the room and ask them "WTF?!" and "how do we fix this". Trust the people you are paying to make the right decisions "especially the decisions you are paying them to make".

I feel like a shakeup has to occur on this staff. I really like Saleh as a person, but I think his rah-rah, positive vibes only leads to lack of discipline. Let's not forget all the receipts he was talking. Bad penalties. Falling behind early. Poor clock management. Not being ready to play. I think I read somewhere that two players were warming up in costumes. I have no idea if that was true, but that is unacceptable for a winning organization. Thats giving this generation of players way too much rope. I'm on record that if Payton is available and wants to coach the Jets which I don't think he does you press hard for him. If Saleh is not on the hot seat then he needs to fire his best friends brother. Will he do it? What does everyone else think??

Maybe Frank Reich as OC if he was interested.

All valid points and questions that I can’t quite answer but I’m still not ready to give up on this regime just yet. They started out SO HOT and won most of those games with garbage ass Zach. Difference was that they had Breece Hall, AVT and a healthier oline.

Let’s see what they do this off season and what QB they bring in. If Breece Hall and AVT can come back healthy with a consistently average or better QB and they still suck ass, then I’ll be ready to cut ties with Saleh and his crew. I’m sorry but I just can’t give up on them this quick.

I’m sure Joe D and Saleh will bring in some real depth and more playmakers. Maybe even a QB! If so, I’ll judge them then.

Don't bank on Breece coming back as the same player. Look at how long it took Say-who to get back on track after his injury.
