If I was a betting person, which I am not the draft is right there for us.
Regardless of how Aaron Rodgers trade shakes out, the Jets want to keep one of their second rounds will determine how they play this draft day.

Grabbing Paris Johnson with the 13th pick whereas some have him going as high as 8 would be a steal at 13... A former tackle that is kicking inside to play guard would pair with AVT at the guard positions for years. AVT proved he can play much more than guard. Same makeup Paris has as Alijah would make our line versatile with full loads of talent.

Joey Fisher is this year's Max Mitchell. Fisher same size but is more physical capable of benching 500 lbs.

Like last year the Jets are targeting another safety. Last year we signed rookie free agent, Tony Adams from Illinois. This year they are trying to target Jason Taylor and draft the Oklahoma State prospect, lock him into a rookie four year deal. Fits perfectly into Saleh/Ulbrich's defensive scheme.

We are all interested in hearing when this Aaron Rodgers trade will happen. Then we sign a formidable backup that knows Hackett's offense in Tim Boyle. But the team is looking for another option, and Sean Clifford from Penn State. Have to wonder if they are really interested in drafting another option and if so, where does that truly leave Zach "All about Me" Wilson?

Smoke screen? or true interest in Interior Offensive Lineman/Center John Michael Schmitz? He literally was my target last year before he returned to school. Believe his versatility and success at commanding the line and able to controlling the blocking assignments made him the top dawg last year and this year rated as a second round is mind boggling. He has been noted as going as high as 30 but is mainly rated as a high second round pick in the low 40s. The latest mock has him going 46 overall. So he is a top 50 prospect but do we have to get him in the first round to secure his services?

If we can hopefully take Paris Johnson with our first round selection, can JD strike a deal to re enter to the back of the first round for John Michael Schmitz? Probably using our 4th round pick this year might be able to swing that deal, could send a player in that deal as well.

The ongoing offer for Aaron Rodgers has been a 2nd round pick this year and a future pick. With that being said that should leave us with one that with a fourth and a player or an additional future pick to move back into the first round. Leaving us with 143rd and 207th picks with a possibly three targets left as seen in my Jets Top 5 Prospect Big Board.
Good job!!!

IMO a lot depends on how the QB's fall. I really don't expect the top guys to get out of the top 10. If 1 is available you know JD will at least try to get more draft capital. Hopefully he picks up a 3rd this year. A lot of depth there.

If nothing changes they have to go OL in the 1st. Skoronski and Johnson will most likely be gone. Take either if they are there but I think that is wishful thinking.

I might go WR in the first depending on who is there and who is dealt in the Rodgers deal.
Reality might be that this is GB's pick the Jets are making so don't be surprised if it's someone out of left field.

Needs in order:
QB(Even with Rodgers).
OL
OL
LB
S
WR

Provided JD gets the right guys for those positions, this sets us up for the sustained success.

If a top QB drops and Rodgers is not traded yet then take the QB. You have to be prepared for GB to just say nope we will just eat the contract since we are going to suck for the next two years anyway.

OK...so a few years ago, the year the Jets drafted Becton, the OT I was highest on was Andrew Thomas. I loved his technique. It took him a little time, but he has proven himself to be an outstanding technical OT. I like Becton - still do. I think his kick step is so impressively long, he can play LT, though I think he would be an absolutely dominant RT.

This year, I feel similarly about Broderick Jones as I did Andrew Thomas. To me, he has the athleticism and technique to both be a shutdown LT in pass pro and to do a well enough job in a zone run scheme. He won't be a dominant run blocker, but he is the best pure LT in this draft. He's not as position versatile as Pete and Paris, but he is the best pure LT this year - and I don't think it's even close.

If the Jets ended up with Broderick Jones and either Schmitz, Tippman, or perhaps even Wypler, I would compare it to the D'Brick/Mangold draft.
All for this. I agree with taking a QB as well if one falls. Or at least present the illusion that you're going to take a QB in the first. Draft picks are the lifeblood of a team in todays NFL. I would love to have one of the QB's be available at 13. I trust JD to make the Jets better if that scenario presents itself. With Rodgers behind Center the Jets are going to have to stockpile OL. Its simple math. Guys are going to get hurt and you have to have backups who can do the job. You aren't getting that in FA. At least not this late. No training camp rejects from other teams as well. Stockpile some draft picks JD.

@gmf1369 - most of the mocks have the top two tackles gone and the Jets drafting the guy from Georgia.
But I've seen a few that mention the tackles from Tennessee and Penn State.
Which do you think is a better prospect?
Which do you think is a better fit for the Jets?

Ok, now that the trade is done and we have 1st, 2nd, 4th and 2 5ths(?), and re-signed McGovern who do we pick?
