that's starter money, not slot money. then again, most teams run a lot of nickle so that may not be a huge distinction

Love this signing... If we get Revis our Defense will be sick.... if not and we settle for Cro or Culliver the D will still be sick... And if the we get a healthy Milliner and MCDougle all season... OMG... NUTS!!!

Bowles loves playing DB's He can have 5 or 6 on the filed quite often in his D

Revis, Skrine, Milliner, McDougle , Pryor, Allen, Harris to go with Wilkerson,Ellis, Snacks and Richardson that could stp the run and pass.... Bowles is gonna be loving life with our D.... Well if we sign Revis...

We got raped on this deal, flat-out raped.

byron maxwell got a 6-year, $60 million deal. he's started something like 18 games in his career, and played alongside sherman, thomas and chancellor. in 2014, he had 12 passes defended and 2 ints.

skrine had something like 14 PDs and 4 ints and is getting a 4-year, $25 million deal.

now all things being equal, i would have preferred maxwell as he's a bigger, more physical guy.

in this market, skrine may be a slight overpay, but definitely not being raped.

Weren't we just laughing earlier today on how we had no one to spend the cap money on? We're going to have to pay top dollar+ just to avoid getting penalized by the league.
I knew this was gonna happen, P, I predicted it last night:

We're gonna be over-spending on mediocre talent, mark it down.

I don't mind over-spending on guys like Suh, Julius Thomas and even Revis, heck even DeMarco Murray, but if we start over-spending on the Hoyer's, Boling's and Antonio Cromartie's of the world, this free agency will be another disaster.

Skrines is a good CB... The cap went up so pay for all players rises... We didn't get raped... Slightly overpaid... Yes... Raped... No

Green Jets and Ham, question for you...

What makes Buster Skrine a "second tier FA"?

Is it because you aren't familiar with his name? His stats, as compared to Maxwell, paint a different picture than what you're saying. I'm not trying to be argumentative. Just curious.

My answer to that question and I rarely agree with him is a 5'9" CB is not a top tier CB IMO

Does this sound like a 25 million dollar corner, blindside?

Buster Skrine to sign with Jets

By Rich Cimini | ESPN.com

Plagued last season by poor cornerback play, the New York Jets opened free agency Tuesday by signing former Cleveland Browns corner Buster Skrine, a league source confirmed.

Skrine, a two-year starter for the Browns, will receive a four-year, $25 million contract, including $13 million in guarantees, the source said.

The Jets still hope to make a big splash by signing free agent Darrelle Revis. Going into free agency, the Jets had no healthy starting corners. Former No. 1 pick Dee Milliner is recovering from Achilles' tendon surgery and likely won't be ready until training camp.

Skrine, 25, earned a lot of respect while with the Cleveland Browns because of the way he competes and the fact that he improved every season.

Though not a No. 1 corner, Skrine is a hard-working, dependable second or third corner.

Skrine broke up 49 passes in four season seasons, but had just four interceptions in 2014 while ranking second overall in penalties with 15 (11 accepted). That ranking was partly due to the increased emphasis on illegal contact, as four of the six most-penalized players in the league were cornerbacks.

Pro Football Focus reported teams completed 61.5 percent of the passes thrown Skrine's way, and that he was responsible for eight touchdowns.

Yes, because I'm reading the entire article. Not just the part you emphasized in bold print. He is a high-energy, hustle guy, 2 year starter who improved every year and was well-liked by coaches and teammates. 18 PD and 4 INT's were better than Byron Maxwell's #'s.
