Damn, this is overkill isn't it. Let's see, we have Revis, Skrine, Milliner, Williams and Mcdougle. Possibly signing Cro and now this kid Gilchrist to. Wow, last year we didn't have shit for CBs and now this year we have too many. Not complaining but just saying, LOL!From what I've read the only thing I've seen is they are initiating discussions with him. So at this point he is a person of interest but we don't have him in the fold and he may choose to go in another direction. We shall see LOL

It really depends on how long it takes for us to find and develop a SB worthy QB. Remember, Ben Roethlisberger and Russell Wilson both won SB's in their sophomore years.
Teams go from worst to first all the time. Then, depending on how quickly they find that QB, they often get right into the SB. Hell, the Baltimore Ravens won the whole deal with Trent f*cking Dilfer as the QB. So to say it can't be done with this current compliment of players is nonsense
But it all boils down to right now, we CANNOT win a SB. The QB's we have been in the league for too long for us not to know what we have. They are journeyman at best that were never able to lead a team to the playoffs. That will not change with this team. This team must improve in those areas.
A QB is a certain for the Jets in this draft. They are definitely going to get one, it is just a matter of who. If the Jets feel they can get a QB that can lead this team in the 2nd round then maybe they'll do just that. However, most would think that taking Marcus Mariota by either staying at 6 or moving up would a be the most logical choice and the best chance for a QB succeeding.
From there it's a matter of 1) These FA's becoming a cohesive unit with our current players on the roster, and 2) How quickly our drafted QB can become a the real deal.
Jim Plunkett was in the league for 10 years and had done nothing until he wound up on the Raiders, and then won 2 SB's for them. Why are you so sure Fitz can't be our Jim Plunkett?
TRUST ME. Just take my word for it for crying out loud. Did you want to make a wager? Hell, there's a good chance Fitz will not even win the starting job. It's probably still going to be Geno.
Now I feel the need to ask you do you abuse alcohol? Because that is the only way you could be questioning whether or not what I am saying is correct.:roflmao:
Sorry bud. I may trust, but I verify. (With apologies to Reagan.) Instead of questioning my sobriety, how about a rational justification of why Fitz can't follow in Plunkett's footsteps? After all, Fitz hasn't even been in the league as long as Plunkett was before his QB brilliance began to express itself.
Jets just need someone to protect the ball. There have been so many times in recent years where they blew the game bc of turnovers.

It's amazing, isn't it, how many times we have been so close. It has to be our time for our number to come up before too much longer, no? Go Fitz!
Actually, both Fitz and Plunkett displayed brilliance early on, and both careers got sacked by crappy teams while doing it.Fitz hasn't even been in the league as long as Plunkett was before his QB brilliance began to express itself.

I'm with you here. Mac and Bowles are doing a knock out job and I'm very impressed and stoked for this new Jets culture. They are the most aggressive team this year so far, getting players still in the prime and filling all the needs we have to fill. How can anyone be upset with that? I will admit, I wanted the Foles trade to happen, or the Cooper or White or Mariota draft picks. However; I realize Mac and Bowles are getting proven players that are still young enough to give us years of great play and hungry with something to prove. Can't argue with that at all. Plus, FA isn't done yet and we still have the draft coming. It's impossible to satisfy all Jets fans. If we hadn't done anything, the mob would be crucifying Macc, Idzik, and Jesus Christ.
But since we've overhauled the secondary and grabbed the best available guard we could get, backup QB, and traded bread crumbs for a #1 WR, it's still necessary to piss and moan that the Jets are going down the wrong path.
Sorry. I'm venting.

They still need to address the o-line and LB (especially), RB and QB. I'm sure they will address the o-line, LB and RB in the draft, now QB is the issue. Will Fitzgerald be the stop gap to help us for a year or two or will Geno finally step up. They may even draft a QB in the later rounds and Mariota is still in play (I guess). I'm thinking its all on Geno here and being its his third year under a new regime that obviously knows what their doing and giving him weapons galore to help him, he should be a lot better. Hell, any QB should do better with the team they are building now. Great job new regime!

A LOT of people underestimate Fitzpatrick's value, but HYATT™ knows better than to EVER sell that kid short.
