I do wonder about Carter as OL coach. Granted, he hasn't had a fair shot to coach a healthy line. But I do have some concerns.
I will say, pass pro is a bit more complex than just punching guys in the chest. It's complex. And yes, there is a lot of hand fighting, especially with defenders who might try to rip, or swim, or bull rush. Perhaps that is why Becton is a better run blocker than he is in pass pro. There are more complexities to pass pro. One of the benefits of play action is you fire out as though you are run blocking. It puts the defensive front off balance.
Side note: If anyone has seen the movie Draft Day, they are showing film of the pass rusher. They rave about the kid's bull rush on a play when he didn't bull rush. "He absolutely bull rushed that right tackle." No he didn't. It was a lazy half-swim, half-rip, but either way, a speed move to the outside. I hate it when movies do that. If you don't know what a bull rush is, don't say it.
