Offseason

We now enter the best part of the year for Jets' marks:
1. Playoffs: We can enjoy the best teams shooting it out and root against the team we hate the most without worrying about whether the Jets will miss a clutch FG or blow a winning position with a bonehead RTP penalty.
2. Draft: If JD doesn't pork the draft beforehand by wasting our picks on D Adams we can wait with bated breath while the teams before us don't select the left tackle we need and then scream with frustration as JD blues the selection on a luxury pick like Bowers or Nabers (everybody needs good Nabers). Or even another Edge on the grounds that he was BPA.
3. Wilson the Lesser: Have we really seen the last of Zach or will Rodgers inveigle his little buddy into the backup role?
4. Becton: JD may go for the luxury picks and try to run back the same O line as last year: Becton, Tomlinson, McGovern, Tippmann, AVT. In which case Becton will have the Jets over a barrel as they show the money to one of the worst LTs in the NFL.
5. The first cuckoo of Spring: Around April somebody will post saying how much they are looking forward to the new season and how everything will somehow be different this time.

Rather see the Jets in January than seeing other teams while the Jets are golfing. I really think we have some good talent with a few holes to fill to make them a force to be reckoned with.

I think the team could use either side tackles. If a stud RT was available, I would go for that just as quickly as I would a LT.
Almost as quickly. But good RT candidates are available some way down the draft, so if the LTs are gone by #10 the ideal move would be to trade down and perhaps get back into the second round. But we never seem to be able to find trade partners.

Is Latham that guy or do we trade down to mid round to 20th and grab one of the other RT prospects?

Dude is a penalty machine at the college level. How’s that going to improve at the pro level?

I would not be opposed to trading down. And there are some good LT guys a little bit later in the draft, as well.

I like Latham. Even against Michigan, he had a pretty solid game while the rest of his OL were busy getting destroyed.

Fair critique, especially if he'll be on the Jets.

Fuaga is intriguing, though again a RT. And Mims, while a project, has insane projections both in protection and in penalties.

I don’t like Fauga but I think he’s going to be the pick unless he’s gone . The Jets with Rodgers at QB and Hall at RB need an OT who’s equally adept at run Blocking and pass protection. Of all the prospects, IMHO the best fits are Fashanu and Jordan Morgan . Gaga is an exceptional run blocker but subpar pass protector . Alt is robotic and Latham is much like Fauga and penalty machine .

If the Jets don’t trade down from 10 they will be forced into taking a Tackle and at 72 they will be possibly steering at a DT safety or WR .

We need to acquire a 2nd round pick to be able to have options in the top 2 rounds which will allow us to make the BPA option while leaning towards need.

Douglas's BPA is always a DE. Tinstar, "With all due respect". I don't think you have really studied this years Crop of Offensive Linemen. Morgan and Mims are not that good. Latham IMHO is a Becton clone. Mims had more Holding penalties than Becton. Morgan had 1 or 2 good games. Otherwise, if he was not holding, Opponents blew right past him. Alt is a BEAST and is as good as they come. You have your right to your opinions and I hope Dumb ass Douglas doesn't draft either Morgan or Mims.

On a positive note, we have two first team defensive All-Pros in Quincy Williams and Sauce Gardener. Possibly could have a 3rd in Quinnen Williams but for a few more sacks, though his value goes much deeper than that.
