Wilson Rumors were true

Saleh seems extremely ill equipped to lead this team. He talks a good game, but he seems to 100% be bluffing it all (he is faking it, trying to make it).

"Since Saleh reportedly told Wilson that the team would try to trade him during the offseason, he refused to play in order to prevent himself from getting injured behind New York's struggling and injury-decimated offensive line.

Saleh reportedly had Rodgers speak to Wilson in hopes of getting him to change his mind, but Wilson stood his ground."

So weird, I just finished this article which is also damning of Saleh. He sounds like a complete incompetent douche. And Rodgers, too.

"New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson reportedly didn't have the relationship he expected or hoped for with veteran Aaron Rodgers after the future Hall of Famer tore his Achilles this season.

According to Zack Rosenblatt and Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Wilson's feelings about Rodgers "soured" over the course of the 2023 campaign.

Part of the reason for that was the fact that Wilson and some of his teammates and coaches reportedly "grew tired" of the way head coach Robert Saleh "fawned over" Rodgers.

Also, Wilson believed he would have a "direct line" to Rodgers throughout the season even though he got injured, but instead he "barely heard from" the veteran signal-caller.

Wilson was benched in favor of journeyman Tim Boyle after the team's Week 15 loss to the Miami Dolphins, and although he was reportedly told that he would be made inactive for the rest of the season, Saleh changed his mind and told Wilson to prepare to play.

Since Saleh reportedly told Wilson that the team would try to trade him during the offseason, he refused to play in order to prevent himself from getting injured behind New York's struggling and injury-decimated offensive line.
Saleh reportedly had Rodgers speak to Wilson in hopes of getting him to change his mind, but Wilson stood his ground.

When news of Wilson's refusal to play leaked to the media, Saleh reportedly went into a "tailspin," as he attempted to find out who leaked the information. He even reportedly threatened to confiscate staff members' cellphones.

Saleh also reportedly used Rodgers' injury as an excuse for the team's struggles, going so far as to research the record of other NFL head coaches when they are without their starting quarterback.

When the Jets acquired Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers this past offseason, it was assumed that Wilson's days as a starter were numbered.

He had failed to take a firm grip of the job in multiple opportunities, and the Jets organization was clearly growing impatient due in large part to the fact that it hadn't reached the playoffs since 2010.

The playoff drought extended to a league-high 13 consecutive seasons this year, and 14 is a possibility if the 40-year-old Rodgers doesn't heal as well as hoped from the Achilles tear.

However, given the fact that Rodgers has a dead cap hit of over $66 million in 2024, per Spotrac, the Jets essentially have no choice other than to hope that the four-time NFL MVP and one-time Super Bowl champion can bounce back."

Yes totally agreed! There are a few articles coming out that pretty detrimental to Saleh and his staff. Things aren't looking good and quite honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Woody tries to do some knee/jerk response to this articles.

The fear and blame game is alive at 1jets drive…….. these pieces of shit (Saleh, Hackett, Rodgers) all need to be fired. It doesn’t surprise me that ZW grew distant from Rodgers….. Rodgers has always had the rep of a shitty teammate. And why would Rodgers help ZW? If ZW actually got help and played well, why the fuck would we need Rodgers? It was never in Aarons best interest to help ZW…… just like he never helped Love in GB

I wish. But I gave up on Woody doing anything remotely logical years ago.

Dead on. The Rodgers signing was a mistake that many saw coming a mile away. Except our dead-brain trust. As you point out, he had that rep as a crappy teammate for years. Yet, Woody thought he could somehow will success from Rodgers, even as he was about to be 40 years-old. Now? We can look forward to another wasted season in '24.

So I haven't read anywhere that Rodgers wasn't being a good teammate (quite the opposite). The article seems to insinuate that Zach grew tired of the way Saleh fawned over Rodgers. If he doesn't get hurt, who knows what happens. But keeping Zach as the #2 was a complete dumbass move and everyone saw that except for JD & Saleh!

Still think JD gave up too much for Rodgers
Especially the first rd swap of picks.
GB had no leverage, couldn’t keep him and his salary.
Think Woody chimed in and gave away the loot.
Second round pick last year should’ve been it.

I thought I read in the article that Rodgers kinda blew off Zach after the surgery, and never really talked with him during the season. I’m starting to blame ZW less and less. it kinda insinuates that Saleh screwed the pooch after game 1, lost control of the situation, and Rodgers just strolled around looking the part, but never advised ZW during the season. It also insinuated that Hackett was barely doing anything. Gameplan meetings were minimal, and the team had little input. If this is true, the CS basically quit after 4 plays. This is a fireable offense in my mind…… and shithead Woody did nothing to fix the situation. It all makes sense now…. The G Wilson and B Hall bitching…..the lack of preparedness, the virtually no innovation on playcalling. The only guy I absolve is Ulbrich…. at least the defense showed up …..

Yeah I guess that information is left to interpretation. It doesn't actually say he blew him off, here is the quote

"Also, Wilson believed he would have a "direct line" to Rodgers throughout the season even though he got injured, but instead he "barely heard from" the veteran signal-caller."

Sounds like Zach wanted Rodgers there constantly to mentor him (and he was recovering, so not really realistic). I have no idea how often Zach tried to reach Rodgers, or if he expected Rodgers to constant reach out to him, but sounds like incorrect expectations led to disappointment. Was Zach expecting Rodgers to setup regular meetings? Did Rodgers not return his calls? Honestly this is a vague statement, and without further details very hard to decipher what's what there.

I totally agree with the Hackett assessment. Seems like he was just hanging out and doing nothing! From both articles published today, it sounds like Hackett blew off the season when Rodgers got hurt and did nothing to try to prepare and put up a good fight.

More proof why some of us derided the Hackett hiring.

“Multiple coaches and players described Hackett as lacking in attention to detail. For most of the season, Hackett would meet with offensive line coach/running game coordinator Keith Carter and passing game coordinator Todd Downing during the week but wouldn’t get together with the rest of the offensive staff until the ‘last minute’ of game prep,” Russini and Rosenblatt explained. “During games, Hackett struggled to make adjustments. Against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2, Carter asked Hackett to give left tackle Duane Brown more help blocking Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons, according to multiple team sources. But Hackett never adjusted, and Parsons dominated (two sacks, four QB hits) in a 30-10 loss.”

At this point, we're watching a long, lingering death for the current regime and it's extremely painful to watch. Time to blow it up soon.
Well winning cures all ills! If they don't fire anyone after this massive leak, they will have an opportunity to do it again next year and try to right the ship!
