1 - Randy Gregory - OLB
2 - Todd Gurley - RB
3 - Cedrick Ogbuehi - OT
4 - Tyler Lockett - WR/KR
I would sign off on that right now, no question. I probably sub in Beasley for Gregory but that is nitpicking.
The big question mark is what do we do to address QB? Fitz and Geno aren't leading us where we want to go, ultimately. I think we have to bring in one of the big four rookies (Mariota, Petty, Hundley, Grayson). Have to.
Other than that, I would be giddy over this draft.
I do. Who's worthy of a pick this year? Have you watched the 2nd-tier and below of QB's in this draft class? It's dreadful. A wasted pick.
And why does nearly everyone want to bring in another young QB when you're trying to groom Geno? Isn't that counter-productive? Now half the reps are split thereby regressing development of either prospect?
I don't see the logic.
Have you watched the 2nd Tier QB's there are 3-4 guys that have the make up to be good NFL QB's with the right coaching and development time....
1. Garret Grayson
2. Sean Mannion
3. Bryce Petty
4. Shane Carden
When you don't have a franchise QB you draft a QB every year till you find one....
Just A Reminder:
Tom Brady 6th Rd and let me add a 6th rd Compensatory pick
Russell Wilson 3rd Rd
Tony Romo Undrafted
Dree Brees 2nd rd pick
Never know where they Franchise QB is gonna come from when you don't have one and when you don't have one you keep swinging in whatever RD....
List goes on
TRUST ME, I wasn't taking your word or anyone else's on this board as the final say or in swaying me but I'm not a college guy so I don't know enough of any of these kids. I've watched Mariota and Winston a few times and I can see Winston is the shit. Mariota worries me but I can see if he's put in the right situation that gives him time to develop whether that's on or off the field, he can develop to being a excellent QB. Geno on the other hand didn't have that time to develop nor did he have a team that could help him develop on the field. So I'm willing to give Geno one more year to show me something good and consistent under this new regime that has a clue and with players that can truly help him. Who knows, he may turn out to be the answer to our question here! Those other QBs I never watched period so it was impossible for me to comment on any of this. Thanks for the link and I will definitely take a look. It's just my opinion, nothing more. I would encourage you not to be swayed but what I say or anyone else for that matter. Take a look at the game film yourself and draw your own conclusions. www.draftbreakdown.com shows full games of all prospects play by play and it gives you a better idea of the prospect's game overall.
After watching all the top pass rush prospects, I liked Odighizuwa as much as I did the top prospects in Gregory, Fowler and Beasley. At the same time, I found Shane Ray to be choppy, one-directional with lateral movement lacking. I think he has attained his sacks from his overall strength and pursuit. His strength may not overwhelm pro OT's and I think his limited athleticism will keep him from being a high sack guy. Just my opinion.
And I formed my opinions on watching the QB's as well - all of them. I encourage you to do the same. You'll probably have differing conclusions from mine, or not.
In seeing this last year, I felt that Beckham was far and away the best prospect at WR. I think the tape is very telling. He had the best combination of route running and suddenness with an uncanny ability to high-point the ball. Great athleticism and hops and always was around the ball.
I love Amari Cooper at WR but not White. I love Winston but not Mariota.
But I digress. Take a look when you get a chance.
ROUND 1
OLB Vic Beasley Clemson
Fast rising up to top 5 on most draft boards, potentially elite edge rusher
ROUND 2
OT Jake Fisher Oregon
Developmental prospect with NFL frame who could eventually start at either OT spot
ROUND 3
RB TJ Yeldon Alabama
Poor man's Eddy Lacy - good all around back who can catch, run, and block
ROUND 4
WR Chris Conley Georgia
Freakish athlete who longterm upside
Yeah, I have. And translating Petty into the pros is very similar to Mariota. Live arm but such a project playing at Baylor. Mannion can sling it but mostly to the other teams. Grayson is considered the best of these guys and I thought he was just dreadful much of the time. And I wouldn't take on Carden as an UDFA. That's just me.
I can understand the desire to take on one of these guys as projects but with limited picks and a young guy in place, I wouldn't do it. TBaum subscribed to your thinking but I don't. To gamble for the sake of gambling....no. If there's a prospect you feel strongly about, yes. I don't like this crop.
