Antonio Cromartie Signs with Jets

If we sign Cro then Milliner and McDougle will be nickle/dime /special teams players. Maybe this wll be a wake up call for Milliner to come into camp in football shape and with a better attitude. The dude's got talent but I think he thinks too much of himself and might not work as hard as he needs to. Being on last years team will be way different than showing up this year. This regime has learned a lot from the Idzik missteps.

Just being on the same practice field as Revis and Cro ought to take care of that......

While the delay doesn't seem to bode well for him signing with us, I'm surprised we're not hearing anything about AZ becoming the front-runner either . . .

Sometimes contracts just take a while. I will be suprised if at the end of the day it isn't NY that Cro signs with. He never wanted to leave in the first place...and that moron Idzik should never have let him....

he also may want it to be his last contract and is working out a way to make it a 3-4 year deal. he is 31 and seems to want to retire a Jet, so they may need to be creative with a contract that pays him more up front with salaries that reduce over time. I could see that scenario where Cro doesnt want to go through this again in 2 years like he did with idzik last year, so lets get something longer that works for him to stay but financially makes sense for both sides based on the length of the deal. he may even want the same number of years as Revis just because they're so close.

I wouldn't give him a deal that commits to paying him any kind of real money after two years. If he can get more length on his deal elsewhere, I wish him luck, but I'm not going more than two years on a 31 Y.O. player who already looked like he was slipping two years ago. I get that he was injured, but that happens when you get older too, the body starts to break down. Two years, take it or leave it.

which is why he hasnt signed yet...negotiations cannot be one sided...take it or leave it ends negotiations...fortunately, the Jets are still negotiating...and we need another CB because I dont trust Milliner to stay healthy.

Granted it ends negotiations, Supe, but it doesn't mean we won't get the player. There has to be a bottom line to every negotiation, a point in money and/or years that you won't go beyond, and for me that point is two years in length. If I have to commit to more to get the player, then I'd rather not have the player. But I would tell him we really want you back (if they do), it was a mistake to let you leave in the first place, so I really hope you choose to come back. I understand if you need to shop around for more, but if you can't get more we want you back and our offer still stands.

I wouldn't trust Milliner to cover Willie Colon running downfield, let alone stay healthy.

You know how QBs have to wear the yellow jersey to ensure they dont get hurt. Milliner just gets to wear a t-shirt during practices moving forward, a bright red one that looks like this:

We drafted an overrated Corner who needed shoulder surgery prior to the draft, and we drafted him in the TOP 10, knowing his rookie season was going to be damaged because he couldn't compete in OTA's. I get that he had good size and speed, but IMO that pick was made because Idzik had to makeup for losing Revis and then failing to find a replacement in free agency despite having mountains of cap space and a nice group of FA CB's to choose from.

think you are mixing up your years. milliner was drafted in 2013., idzik's first year on the job. it was an ok CB FA class, and the jets did not have a ton of cap space. that was the year idzik actually did the right thing and cleaned up tanny's cap mess. last year (2014) was when we had a ton of space and a strong CB market.

Oh yeah you're right, the two years of Idzik was such a disaster that its all just a blur, like a bad dream where one nightmare morphs into the next and you're not sure which is which.
