It looks like the new Jets CS think Fields is worth more than a shit because they went in hard for him at the start of the tampering period. Maybe they think he is ideal for the offense that they are planning. I suspect that he has been offered the default starting spot and therefore this four-way QB contest in camp that some hanker for is not going to happen.
If they are planning on running the shit out of the ball then yes. If they expecting him to run a normal NFL offense then not a chance.

Agreed 1,000 percent. The Jets probably weren’t going to draft anybody this year worth talking about it anyway. Even if they did, it would probably take them a year or two before they showed anything we’re talking about. So this two year deal for Fields works out great. He’s still young enough to show promise and end up being something, even though I’m not banking on that, but it is a possibility. Stranger things have happened. Look at Sam Donald as an example.

Assuming you mean 'compete' rather than 'complete', the rumour was that the Jets would go in hard for Fields at the start of the tampering period by offering him the starting job, whereas the Steelers wouldn't do that. I expect Fields to go into training camp as QB1 and Tyrod and Travis to compete for QB2.
I agree the Jets probably offered Fields the Starting QB job. It really costs them nothing. If Fields wins the Starting job they can say "We knew it all along."
If Tyrod beats Fields out they can say: " The Job was his to lose." Either way they're covered.
