I know most would prob say marino over o'brien which is hard to argue.
Browning Nagle 34th pick Brett Favre 33 pick.

Farve was going to be the 34th pick he just did not make it there.

Marino would not have taken all those sacks that O'Brien did. I liked Kenny but he held on to the ball too long and no one released it as quickly as Dan did.O'Brien was a good QB with an awful OL... We think about the production of Marinos career and if he did that with the Jets.. But reality is, and this is funny to say, O'Brien was mobile enough to not get killed... I think Marino would not have been a great QB for us.. And if everything after that draft stayed exactly the same I'm not convinces Marino would have had as decent a career as O'Brien had....
Look at this
Dan Marino 17 years played sacked 270 times 15.9 sacks per year
Ken O'Bien 11 Years played sacked 353 times 32.1 sacks per year
Ken O'Brien 129 games played sacked an avg of 2.74 times per game
Dan Marino 240 games playes sacked an avg of 1.13 times per game..
And I won't even go into pressures and hits...
Argument made.. not that hard![]()
The line wasn't bad, O"Brien was statute. I'm sick of this myth.O'Brien was a good QB with an awful OL... We think about the production of Marinos career and if he did that with the Jets.. completely agree with both of you guys..The line wasn't bad, O"Brien was statute. I'm sick of this myth.
The all Hall of Fame miss in the draft for our beloved NY Jets
1) Of course O'Brien for Marino - needs no comments
2) Browing Nagle instead of Favre - because we drafted Rob Moore as a supplemental the year earlier and didn't have a first rounder and because Zona backed out last minute of a trade with Dick Steinberg in the 2nd round to jump one pick ahead of Atlanta who drafted Favre on pick ahead.
3) Bryan Thomas instead of Ed Reed
4) Kyle Brady instead of Warren Sapp
5) I'll even throw in when Parcells had the first pick in 1997 and Manning was deciding to come out and the rumor was he was waiting for Parcells to commit to taking him which he didn't and Manning stayed in school.
6) Blair Thomas for Emmit Smith
7) Farrior for Pace
8) Toon (shortened by head trauma from O'Brien) for Jerry Rice
9) Johhny Lam Jones for Anthony Munoz
The list of HOFer's we missed out on..Sure there's more but all I can remember.

If memory serves me, I don't think that the Dolphins offense under Marino ever had the balance of a decent running game. To me that makes Marino all the more impressive.Marino had the quickest release I've ever seen; coupled with great awareness and a bazooka arm thus the low sack totals.
If he were playing in today's pass-happy NFL and with the current rules favoring the offense his numbers would be even more impressive.
