Dan, Mariota isn't a sure thing like Luck. There's no way we're trading up for him. Washington went from pick six up to pick two and it was a disaster. Macc, with his affinity for draft picks as a former scout, isn't going to mortgage our future. If he's there at #6 , I could definitely see us taking him.

Hopefully Mariota is there at 6.

It will be terrific if we get to draft the first potential NFL franchise QB we've drafted since we passed on Marino in 1983 and have the bonus of having Fitzpatrick on the roster to allow MM to work, practice, develop and be ready to step in NLT 2016.

Again, this is your opinion and i respect that. Though if Mac &Bowles feel Mariota is worth the risk on trading up from 6 to 2 then i would respect that as well. They're doing their due dilligence and rightfully so. Like i said earlier, if they walked away today feeling this guy can turn into a franchise QB with the potential he has, then it wouldn't surprise me at all if the Jets did in fact trade up.

IMHO, i prefer drafting either Cooper or White. We need playmakers at WR "LONG TERM". We really don't know how Brandon marshall will hold up this year as he is getting older at the position. Then i'd select Bryce Petty in the 2nd and Duke Johnson in the third if he's still there.

I feel Marcus is a 3-4 year project that won't be accepted here in NYC as we're all impatient (SEE JOHN IDZIK). He will be forced into action year two and will come with many learning curves. Many fans will label him a bust (as i have labeled Geno many times and i honestly hope he proves me wrong). Then by year 4, the franchise will be looking else where for answers.

I like Marcus, don't get me wrong, but i just feel the media & fans will eat him up as soon as he has a couple of bad games, thus surnaming him a "failed project".

There isn't any info out there. I think we'll see how it went during the draft.
If WRECKS was still around there would have been seven annoucements, press releases and press conferences with him gushing about how much he loved MM (as he did after his Suckchez private workouts) and declarations from.Mariota that he was guaranteed that the Jets will draft him (as Coples announced after a visit prior to his draft)

No loose lips sinking ships anymore from the Jets

Personality is overrated. There have been plenty of great QB's who did not have a fiery personality. Two that immediately come to mind are Roger Staubach and Joe Montana. These were not rah-rah guys who screamed to get your attention. They were soft spoken, but the important thing is, they were quiet assassins on the football field who could always stay calm in the eye of the storm, and I see some of that from Mariota. He's never going to be flamboyant or vocal, he's not a Dan Marino or Bert Jones or Joe Namath, its not his style, but so long as he works hard, is ultra competitive like Staubach and Montana, and performs on gameday, the players will believe in him and follow him into hell.

That said, I'm not a big fan of either QB, Winston or Mariota, but my concerns about Mariota have little to do with his personality and whether or not he can command a huddle. Not to suggest its unimportant, but he's been playing football all of his life and I'm sure he knows how to get his teammates attention.

Ultimately the trick to KEEPING THEIR (undivided) ATTENTION is getting it done on gameday.

Do that and his teammates will shut-up and listen like its the burning bush.
