We won! The 8th season game is in the books and what a game it was. Once again Mr. Justin Fields was given the ball. The Bengals looked like winners up to the last 8 minutes; 24 to 38 point winners. Then the Jets, the 7 straight losses in a row Jets, did the impossible. They not only came from behind;
they won! Two TD's with 2 points after in the first one. 39 to 38. To put the cherry atop the cupcake, the Jets defense took over with almost 2 minutes left in the game. They embarrassed the Bengal offense into a turn-over on downs. There was no joy in Bengal land.
If ever a team earned a week off, the Jets certainly did in winning over the 3 and 4 Bengal's. The next time we see the Green & White on a field is November 9th at 1 PM EST. We'll be playing at home. We fans have a reason to make it a warm homecoming. The visiting team? The Cleveland Browns, 2 and 6. 2 and 6? Hmmm . . .
The history of the New York Jets is linked to the late Mr. Leon Hess of Hess Oil. He was one of the original group buying the Titans in 1963 and re-naming the team the New York Jets. By the time 1984 rolled around the team was fully his. I worked for Mr. Hess when he first bought into the franchise. A fine businessman, he know that nothing succeeds like success. The first year that the Jets were the Jets, he'd give a number of us stacks of Jets tickets to hand out to friends and family. A real stack. Inches of tickets. Free tickets. We happily filled the stands for him. Next year the Jets had caught on. The stands filled without our help. No more free tickets. That didn't stop me from being a Jets fan for life, though, and it's been a long life.
