That was a close scary win for the Rams
Kicker cost the Packers. Bears had no business winning that game.
Ben Johnson was fortunate to win that game after gifting the Packers a TD by going for it on his own 30. Two terrific games though.
You're right about that point. That cost the Lions in the NFC Championship game in San Fran when He and Glenn were assistant coaches on that loaded team.
Should have won it all because of the Talent on that Team having the years they were having.
This was one case where "aggressive coaching" cost them a title imo.
These guys come from the same so-called coaching tree so this is how they do their thing

I don't call it 'aggressive coaching', I call it dumb coaching. It's not just the percentage chance of you making the yardage, it's risk and reward. If you make it you still have to go forty yards to set up a good field goal shot and there is a good chance you will be punting anyway. If you don't make it your opponents are already in field goal range.
As for Glenn, perhaps the Detroit influence will wane with time.

Like TCT said earlier the Bears had no business winning that game.
In the playoffs you ALWAYS take the points that are available. You NEVER leave points on the Field.
As We all know, these playoff games are usually decided by a TD or less.
Hell you are not even assured of making an extra point in today's NFL.
That's why ANY points are important.
Just ask the Packers.
Continuing a theme, I bet the Jags wish they'd kicked the field goal in the first half rather than 'going for it'. It's a disease, like the modern trend in soccer of 'playing it out from the back' and giving away soft goals when you lose possession in front of your own goal.
As a soccer coach in America it drives me crazy that they play it out of the back on goal kicks. It leads to young GK's that can't send it up field and lots of lost possession in the back. The GK's also lack the confidence in their long ball. I hate it.
To my mind it's not rocket science. If the opposition are hanging back then by all means play it out. If they are pressing then kick it over their heads. A few years ago there were a number of stupid rules changes, one of which was that a goal kick no longer had to clear the penalty box. It now takes three players to take a goal kick.
Three close games so far. This Eagles-Niners game is close but only because neither side can execute.
Traditionally we get excited about these games and then next week the bye teams blow out the winners. Of course these days there is only one bye team per Conference.
