Presuming QBs gone
If Leonard Williams is there and the QBs are gone, I will be bummed if we don't take the #1 overall prospect in the draft
i said none.
i'm not tied to any player, or even position. so as long as they get a very good player, i'm happy.
I was tied to Beckham last year. This year, it's Cooper but not with the same intensity. I still think he's going to be a very good WR in this league for many years. Hate to pass guys like that up.
excluding the QBs, i'd say cooper is probably my top pick, but i wouldn't necessarily be upset if they went with a different position (OLB) or even a different player at the same position (white) than cooper.
You like Mariota more than Cooper and White?
well the premise of the thread is that the QBs are gone.
disregarding that, as a pure prospect, i like cooper more than mariota. white is a bit more unknown to me, so i can't properly opine. not sure i've ever watched a WV game he played in, whereas i saw a bunch of oregon and alabama games.
but mariota is a QB and the QB position is the most important position. so while i think cooper is the more "sure thing" prospect, it's almost comparing apples and oranges when discussing QBs and non-QBs. however, to (sort of) answer your question, if all of cooper, white and mariota are on the board when we pick (an assumption i find highly unlikely), i'd probably go with the QB, even if i acknowledge there's more risk to that pick.
I think Williams, Cooper, and White as the top 3 players in the draft. I'd have a hard time taking Mariota or Winston over Any of them. Id have a hard time taking a non-franchise QB over these 3 and I don't feel Mariota or Winston have enough franchise QB qualities to get me excited...like taking a player with a ceiling = Andy Dalton #6 overall...I just wouldn't be that excited about it...
Amari Cooper. Yes, I know this draft is filled with talented wide receivers who can help the Jets but my gut is telling me that Cooper is something special. I understand the Jets are in a prime spot to get a potential great and franchise changing player but passing on Cooper will be tough in my opinion.
Jets have not had that dynamic wide receiver since Moss and I feel Cooper would thrive in a Chan Gailey offense. Understand that wide receiver is not a big need but the NFL is a pass happy league, I think Cooper would be a valuable asset to our offense.
As an Alabama fan, I've seen Cooper become that game changing player. He's a speedster, a polished route runner, can play inside outside the slot and can even line up as a RB. He also was the key guy for bama who helped made Blake Sims look as a better quarterback and I feel he can do the same for the Jets.
I went no disappointment. My disappointment is both QBs were gone.
I won't lie, I'll be a little bummed if we pass on White. I'll be happy with anyone we get on that list, but the player on that list id be most excited to watch on our team is White. I'd buy his rookie jersey. I think he is going to be a big time player.
55, So you want White @ 6 ? Surprised, but @ least you've committed your pick. No changing now.
Go Jets...Cyborg
Pft, just like you can't change your opinion that Cam Newton will be better than Brady...still waiting for that day to come.
I said whites my favorite player in this draft...just like Sammy was last year. When I said Sammy was my favorite pick last year, did that make my prediction that the Jets will get him? I'm not predicting white to the jets, but he's my favorite player I will follow regardless of the team that drafts him...if that's okay, young fella.![]()
Kevin, For about the 10th time now, you asked me who I would choose @ QB if you started a team today, and I chose Cam over Brady because Cam is young and Brady is old as dirt !
Go Jets...Cyborg
