An interesting prospect. His natural gate is not as smooth as the other big WR's in the draft. Devante Parker is so smooth with his stride. Green-Beckham is a long strider but looks more smooth as well. Perriman is a bit choppier with his steps, which I wonder if it makes him play slower than his workout times.
Above average body control and high points it well. Seems to have a nice natural feel. The comparisons of him to Stephen Hill couldn't be more off base.
Bottom line: I don't like him before the 2nd round. He has nice potential but doesn't play quite as big or fast as his measurements. I have him behind Cooper, White, Parker, & Green-Beckham. I might prefer Jalen Strong too but I definitely like Perriman's big play ability better, which is probably a better fit for the Jets right now.
The Alshon comparison is spot-on. He doesn't need to separate because he will box you out for the reception. Just uses his body to shield the defender and snatches everything with his hands, very similar to Alshon.
My only problem with Strong is this is very similar to what we already have with Marshall and Decker.

Nope, not bad at all. You're right that a good football player is a good football player, period. That is the most important thing. My only preference is that we find a good football player that adds another dimension to the offense, if possible.
Not an awful thing at all if we add someone like Strong, though. He can play.
Coach O'Leary UCF was just interviewed on Sirius NFL, and he said Breshad Perriman's 6'2"/214 numbers are not as high as they should be, because he was playing with a freshman QB who was not very accurate passer. He's still not cracking my top 3 WR's (Cooper, White & Parker).
Go Jets...Cyborg
My list is:
Cooper
White
Perriman
Strong
Dorsett

why you so down on parker? i thought he was consensus top 3...top 4 at worst?
For some reason I thought you liked White over Cooper.
I can't speak from a knowledgeable viewpoint, but from a fan who has been reading this stuff for months, here's my list in order of "excitement" about grabbing a WR early:
1) Cooper in the 1st
2) Strong in the 2nd
3) White in the 1st
4) Agholor in the 2nd
5) Dorsett/Perriman in the 2nd
(Couldn't list Parker anywhere because I don't want him at 6 and there's NO way he's making it to 37)
Please -- disagree! Everything you guys say just gives me more to look forward to a week from now. (I mean c'mon, even your turds know more than those TV guys, right?:smiley-dance017![]()
Well, I do like White a hair more than Cooper, but I think Cooper is more of a sure thing and has less bust potential. Cooper is 6'1, 210, and 20 years old...but 4.4ish 40 (doesnt play as fast as he times). But despite everyone knowing he was a monster, he still shredded SEC defenses weekly, and despite not having 4.3 speed, ran his routes so good it looked like he did.
White is 6'2, 220, 4.29/4.30 40, 40+ vertical, and caught 110 balls last year alone...so he can catch too. He isn't as good a route runner, because he comes from the spread, but the ceiling on him is huge.
I'd love either prospect. Essentially you're asking, do you want a prospect more like Reggie Wayne or Andre Johnson? of course, we have no idea if either will become that good, but if you knew the two ceilings were Wayne and Johnson, which do you prefer? I prefer Johnson because of his redzone effectiveness vs the smaller WR and the elite deep speed (Wayne never had elite speed either)...but if you told me we drafted the next Reggie Wayne in Cooper...id do back flips.
I love how Cooper is built, he has a great lower body, for a guy only 6'1, 210 is a great weight...solid like Boldin. If he can strengthen his upper body to get off the jam, Cooper may be very special.
I also like White pairing with two other big WRs to perfect his craft with Marshall and Decker. Its a 1a and 1b situation, IMO.
You're not concerned White has a smaller sample size of success? (It doesn't appear ANYONE is, but it definitely plays a role in my mind, especially at 6) . . .
