ok so we have our new name, it's JetsFansUnited (a great recommendation from one of our members, i'll double check who) and we have been working on redesigning the logo. here are the basic concepts tell us what you like what you don't.

We are considering moving the fist down along w skyline and will have the name of the site written within the circle instead of outside.

Just need to find a good font.

We also are thinking we like the oval better than the circle.

Do you guys think it's a cool logo? Don't hold back!

Which font does the
"I heart NY" campaign use?
That seems like it would be the preferred font, since SOME people just can't tear themselves away from the whole "we are the NEW YORK Jets" soliloquy.

Oval over circle - no brainer.
It's an ellipse, by the way, not an oval.
Just thought I'd mention that.

In geometry, an oval or ovoid is any curve resembling an egg or an ellipse, but not an ellipse.
Once the size of an ellipse has been fixed then its exact shape is mathematically determined. In other words, the line forming the perimeter can be drawn in only ONE way. This is distinct from an oval where the perimeter has only to be a concave curve, and there are many possibilities. Simply, an ellipse IS an oval, but an oval may or may not be an ellipse.

Oval for sure. Not sure I like the font on any of them but the oval font is the best of the 3.

I think the choices seem a little too like those Olympic sprinters protesting at the medal ceremony

We are JetFansUnited which is not the same as JetFansProtesting

Maybe a handshake of harmony vs a clenched fist

I'm OK with whatever the result is as long as this place continues to grow

the only thing with a handshake is we would have to cut some of the skyline out because two hands are always bigger than one

and if we go to much smaller you won't be able to read the name

this is going on t-shirts so we want people to be able to read the name jetsfansunited from across the room assuming they have good eyesight.

isired suggested JetsFansUnited. I loved it at the time, and love it even more now.

As for logos, I'm not a massive fan of the font, but I like the oval better than the others.

Looks like American Typewriter (Medium weight? ). But I think maybe something cleaner, like Futura (Calvin Klein font, very clean and readable) or with a slab serif like Lubalin Graph. It seems like they're looking for something a little more playful though, less rigid, and maybe with a hint of violence, or at least strength - like CrackHouse, or several other House Industries fonts would fit the bill, many are fun or a little funky.

The font in there now, in combination with the fist, make it look a little kung-fu-ish.

I'd also add - I like having an oval, or something representing a football in there, especially since you have nothing that ID's it as Jets football. Maybe the circle is an oval with some bumps up top representing the profile view of some laces?

(Though I'm pretty sure that's not an oval, just a logo board tilted away from the camera) :)

And I like the name breaking out of the circle, it's visually arresting - but if you guys don't, what about the fist breaking through up top?

I hate being the odd man out here, but I really dislike the whole idea of the fist. Seems pretty offensive to me. I realize it is probably intended to indicate a willingness to fight for the team and all, but it doesn't look like a friendly sort of fight symbol that identifies different groups of Americans who want to play a game against each other. Rather, it looks more like a symbol intended to be genuinely hostile and threatening to true enemies who you would literally be willing to kill if they dared to even enter your neighborhood, let alone come too close to your property.

Sorry if you don't appreciate the feedback, but you did suggest we should not hold back.

I agree. I don't like the fist. A sign of solidarity or being united would be more in line with maybe a handshake of Jet fan brothers. The fist might indicate to outsiders that this is a forum of fighters. If you want one hand, make it one of those ridiculously large We're #1 cut out of a hand they sell at the stadiums. Or a picture of two Jets doing the mid-air chest bump or something. Not the fist. What's the fist all about anyway?

A name I would throw out there if it's not being used is The Sack Exchange. It could be a play on words regarding exchange of ideas and still keep the vaunted Jets nickname alive. I just looked and it seems no one is using it.

Thanks. Yes, don't hold back ever. If we suck at something let us know asap and we'll try to fix it. Not always the quickest but we do get to it.

As for the fist, to me it indicates unity and willingness to fight for the team. It may not be the friendliest logo picture but i do think it's pretty good that in brings out different feelings to everyone that sees it.

I also think it does lack some football element to it and I am not so sure how to implement it. We'll figure it out. We'll never just stick to one logo, over time it will evolve as will the site.

Everything is a test run, we'll see how it goes.
