Seriously, I have a really good idea. A bunch of guys with muskets like the Cheating Scumbags use. Only give them live ammo when we face the CS at MetLife and tell them to aim at Brady, Belichick, Kraft and grogan14

i really don't care either way but then again I have only seen the jets on tv, but it doesn't seem like it would take a genius to start chanting jets jets jets.
You are right..any one can chant J e ts but Ed was/is special his personality and persona and energy that he brought to the game really was unparalleled..especially in person. people felt obligated to join him and it made for a better home field advantage ..I probaly saw live over 150 times....and never ceased to bring it.....the originator of everything is usually the best

Other than the tiny little fact that it originated in Baltimore with Colts fans in the 70s and started at GS with two groups of Jet fans in the opposite UD end zones before the fire fraud stole and turned it into.free seats and paid road trips (after dumping his brother from the act)....yep Ed was the original
Actually, I have heard that Ed did not originate the chant. Think it was on the old board. Unfortunately I don't know the details of the origin.
He can be replaced but everything the team has tried to this point hs failed. They've had a season ticket holder competition where the winner led the chant, using graphics on the screens, having drummers lead the chant. All turn out to be not as good and just cheap imitations of the chant. They need to figure it out.
I don't care whose the originator of the chant. What I care about is the atmosphere that it creates at that moment. Ed does it best, until they can figure it out with a replacement, I'll stick with Ed.
i argee they should go with whatever works best.. if that's ed & he can be convinced (money/perks) to lead the chant again?? works for me..
Yea I hope so. Maybe in a few games we can bring him out - To set the tone. Preferably against the Pats.
Maybe we can borrow Rex Ryan to make a call the season ticket holders again to make some noise.

Now that you mention it, Rex after 2015 when the Bills fire him, would be the perfect guy to dress up in a furry circus clown outfit to lead the chant himself, and all that stuff
For christ sake.....get the guy to sign a release, film him doing it once or twice, then just run the damn thing on the monitors. Wa-La ! Fireman Ed lives forever.....or as long as Jets fans want at any rate.

I don't care if it's just for the chant, but I have to say it was unfair when they started giving him free gear, tickets, giving him game balls as a representative of the fans, inviting him on tv to speak on behalf of fans. It got ridiculous. If the Jets want to show their appreciation of their fans, they shouldn't give all the rewards to one specific person. Just put the chant on the board. The fans know what to do. If the chant sucked last season, it's because the team only scored like 6 touchdowns last year. I mean, the way I see it, on this board alone there are at least a dozen people I think deserve to get a reward from the Jets more than him! Is he here every day, poring over stats, film, etc, purely for his love of the Jets? Because you guys are!

He was a fully paid mascot just like the Philly Phanatic although not as funny. He dumped his own brother when the paid seats and paid road trips arrived
And despite all the Jets gave him for his lame gig,.he upped and quit in the middle of a season and has badmouthed the Jets since
This is the point i am trying to make too. He was great for the atmosphere at the meadowlands. And i do not blame him at all for accepting paid road trips. It's a dream gig...

I tried to get the chant going once, but I misspelled JETS and spilled my beer all over myself. Cost me $12 for the beer, plus the price of humiliation.
Personally, I liked having Ed lead the chant. More importantly, my kids loved looking for "The Fireman Guy" in the crowd and chanting along with him. It was cool for them, they enjoyed it, and that's all I care about. They were bummed last year when he wasn't there. I like the guy. If he got free stuff from the team, so be it, he deserved it.
