Always get confused between the two mehs, Ridley and Vereen.

Fumbler, but he isnt fast either, ran a 4.66 40 coming out. He was the bigger back at 230.

Vereen was initially just a 3rd down back at 200lbs and is the faster of the two (not blazing, think he ran 4.5 something coming out).

Patriots running back Stevan Ridley: 'I have something to prove'
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
Patriots running back Stevan Ridley is expected to become a free agent in the coming weeks and he is ready for the experience.

"I'm excited about it," Ridley told Sirius XM Radio Friday. "As a player coming into the league, you get there and your first contract you kind of have to establish yourself and see what you can do. Everybody is a good player if you get to make it to the NFL, but there is something to be said if you get to that second contract."

Ridley has rushed for 2,817 yards and 22 touchdowns in his first four seasons in the league with the Patriots.

"Where I'll be playing, and who I'll be playing for, is still unknown, but I know I've come in and done my job up to this point and now I have to put it in my agent's hands to get me on another team, or stay where I'm at, and make sure I’m in pads playing ball somewhere next year. I know if you think about it too much it will worry you sick."

Ridley has played in 20 of a possible 32 games the last two seasons, starting in just 11 of them.

"I take it personal to any team or anybody that says I can't be a very productive player on whatever team I land on," he said. "I've been playing ball my whole life, I'm going to come in and be a leader, and I'm going to be a guy that comes in and busts his butt in the weight room and busts his butt on the field. I'm a good teammate, I have fun with my guys, but when the lights come on Sundays, it's all business and I plan on going out there and making plays."

Kid has talent but between the Fumbles and constant injuries it's hard to take up a roster spot with him.

Oh I got it....when he was a Pat, he was a wicked supah RB, one of the best in football.

Now that he is NOT a Pat, he's a fumbler with constant injuries!!

Typical chowd analysis

actually i think grogan's analysis was pretty spot on.

he's talented, but fumbles a lot and can't stay healthy. if he were a former jet, we'd all probably have a similar analysis on him

Don't we have enough players who turn the ball over at QB? We don't need someone who turns it over from the RB position.

I am not sure why we would want him? but ... thats my opinion.

At this stage in free agency, I don't think we're really bidding against many teams, right? Seriously, most staffs are working on finalizing the pieces to their draft doards. They're not in free agent bidding wars these days much I bet.

If he's here, the market is set, maybe a little more than vet min and an incentive based contract. I dont even think signing him would prevent you from drafting a back. Jets may feel like they need a lot of RB depth and may carry 4 on the active roster that looks like Ivory, Powell, Ridley, and a rookie. As long as it is a 1 year, low base salary, incentive based contract (i.e. pay by performance), I dont mind the signing. Pushes Powell for #2 spot and gives you a similar back up to Ivory if Ivory gets dinged. Also, allows you to be patient with young back as they learn pass blocking. It's a C grade addition.

Only one, actually, and hopefully 2015 TC will be his last behind the back fumble, pick six, or backwards run out of FG position in Green and White

well considering ivory is not a great catching rb sometimes you don't need to be the fastest get this kid in on those short yard downs and he takes pressure off the qb. He doesn't need to be fast if you need 1-3 yards just need a guy to catch and not fall backward when tackled like CJ always did.

I pass as well. I say we draft a guy and bring in one more cheap FA for competition. I can't even picture Ridley in green & white. I trust Ivory and Powell to get the job done this year.

I was thinking he might be the "cheap FA" you referred to above
