Franchise QBs becoming even more rare

Its frightening. Right now there are about 10 franchise QBs out there most of which are well into their 30's.

They way I see it there are really only two young guys in Luck and I guess you can argue Wilson.

Outside of these guys everyone else could realistically be 1-2 season away from being done.

Brady - 38 at start of season
Manning - 39
Bree's - 36
Romo - soon to be 35 but has had some bad injuries

Roethlisberger - 33
Rivers - 33
Eli - 34
Rodgers - 31 but I don't think he plays long because of injuries
These guys may have 3-4 years left depending on health

Luck is 25 and Wilson is 26. They are the only true "young" guys out there.

Of course you have Ryan and Flacco at 30 who have several years left along with a 27 year old Stafford but I'm not sure where these guys really fall on the list.

To some up I guess I'm trying to say its getting harder and harder to find these guys. They are a dying bread.

Does this make it better or worse for the league going forward? You could argue with less franchise guys it makes the league more balanced and competitive. More teams will have opportunity to win and true "teams" will win and not just the ones with the best QBs.

How could you say he isn't a franchise QB? Maybe he isn't in the elite 3-4 guys but definitely a franchise QB.

I am not sure I would concider Russell Wilson a "Franchise QB" just yet .

Again he has been their starter from day one and is about to get a huge new deal. He is definitely their franchise QB.

The question is is he elite or soon to be like Luck? I agree with you there it is questionable.

It comes down to what your definition of franchise QB is. I believe yours is a very good QB who is the long term answer for their team. I believe the more common definition is elite. I would love the latter but be very satisfied with the 1st.

Based on your comment Sanchez would have been considered a Franchise/Elite QB.... I think 5 years is/should be the benchmark.

Franchise and elite are not the same thing. Franchise means they are the face of your team and the guy of which you build your team around. He is/has been your guy for several seasons.

Elite means you are the best of the best. Only a couple exist. Manning, Brady, Rodgers, Bree's. Soon to be Luck.

That is your opinion which is fine but it is how an individual defines it there is no black or white answer

If Tony Romo was our QB last year we would have won 9-10 games.... this year we might be Super Bowl favorites..

Agree about Romo. He gets bashed because of "The Star" by Dallas haters. But he's a pretty good QB. He's in that 7-10 range for me.
