Head Coach Bowles and GM Maccagnan joined Eric Allen to take calls from STHs.

As usual, the HC and GM said the expected things...happy to be here, will stick to BPA on their board at draft, tried to use FA and trades (what Mac called the Pro Side) to fill needs like WR and CB pre-draft so they could stick to BPA on the more unpredictable College side in the draft and UDFAs.

The questions from the STHS were OK but more informed ones could have been asked by virtually every poster here (but grogan14)

Good job by the Jets to make the big guys available

Thanks sg3. Got the call for this but I figured why waste my time when one of you good folks would post the results, which was probably more lip service than anything else, right?

The latest Jets news on the right of this screen noted that they want to add another QB. Any discussion of that?

Bowles said that he is hopeful about Fitzpatrick's return fully from his injury prior to TC and expects a strong competition between Ryan and Geno.....pause...and Simms and expects to add at least one more during this offseason

There was just a conference call with season ticket holders for 45 minutes...people could ask questions...

Some takes

1) They, of course were very evasive about draft..saying over and over BPA will be philosophy...Mac said if 2 players or a group of plaers from 2 different positions are equal, need could sway the decision.

2) Mac said Mo contract is a priority but wont be really delved into till after the pressing draft evaluations, and used Tannenbaum's favorite word ..its a "process"

3) Bowles was asked about the excitement of potentially adding another great player to defense and he stated point blank..I am the head coach and responsible for everything not just defense, so it will be BPA regardless of position.

4) Mac said they are in a "great" spot in draft..to potentially move up or down..said alot of times a player not expecting falls to 6 and teams want to move up

5) Bowles and Mac sounded generally excited about seeing McDougle and Milner healthy to see what they have

6) Bowles was asked about RB in draft, said the draft is VERY deep in RB and have some good 3 down backs, some 3rd down and some carry the load guys...

7) I asked Mac, since he has a scouting background, what he thought of some of the very young players that did not play much because of injury or behind someone..and mentioned specifically the WR; he said its tough because what he saw in college and what he will see in person could be two different things..but specifically mentioned KERLEY as someone he is excited and intrigued to give him "some more looks in game" (I was looking more to see what he thought of Evans, Oswusu, Enemwa or the young offensive linemen)

8) They really did keep going back to BPA

he also said he wants to add a 4th QB from this draft class...after forgetting about Simms...

Looks like 1 of our 6 picks will be RB (if not 2) and 1 will be QB from what they said...

1) he NEVER said he would add a QB from this draft class and he NEVER said 0,1,2 or 6 picks would be RBS or any specific position.

2) What he actually did say for those who actually did listen is, we intend to draft the BPA with every pick and 2) that there were some good RBS including 3 down, speed and power backs in the draft and that he expected to "bring in " another QB, not a syllable about drafting one

The Jets traded for Ryan Fitzpatrick last month, adding him to a quarterback depth chart that already featured Geno Smith and Matt Simms.

Fitzpatrick is still rehabbing the broken leg that ended his 2014 season, which will likely keep him limited until training camp. If things work out the way the Jets hope, there will be another quarterback involved in the team’s offseason work leading up to camp. During a conference call with season ticket holders on Thursday, coach Todd Bowles revealed the team’s plan at the position.

“Ryan’s going to compete, as well as Geno’s going to compete,” Bowles said, via NJ.com. “And we hope to add somebody else to help compete with that along with Simms.”

Given the paltry pickings available in free agency, the draft would seem to be the likeliest route to acquire such a player.

The Jets have been doing their homework on top draft prospects Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota, but both may be off the board before they are on the clock with the sixth pick of the first round. A trade up remains a possibility or the Jets could opt to use a later round pick on Bryce Petty of Baylor, Brett Hundley of UCLA or another quarterback as they continue their search for a long-term answer at the position.

So what you're saying is, he said he plans to add a QB but never said the word "draft"...well, where else is he going to add one, pick one off the QB tree in your backyard?

Also, he didnt say he was going to draft 1 or 2 RBs, what he said was, "there were some good RBS including 3 down, speed and power backs in the draft and that he expected to "bring in."

Wow, I stand corrected.

well for one we don't who the other teams are going to release no one knew shaub would be available until a couple days ago and he was immediately signed.

so yes he can find a QB other than the draft.

Yes, this could happen...like Kate Upton could possibly walk into the room and beg for you to date her, but common sense says...that's not what he was talking about. Is it possible a qb gets released in June 1 cut downs, sure, could he go beg Rex Grossman to come out of retirement, sure, is it most likely he's talking about the draft (even if it's trading for a qb during the draft)? I shouldn't have to answer that.

so if arizona releases a QB which is possible you don't think bowles would kick the tires at all.

short-sightedness and thinking you know what will happen is why people fail at life.

if anything life has taught me is their is always a option somewhere that no one prepared for or is even thinking about.

My post was about probability...if you want to hold onto the 5% chance we make a run at Drew Stanton vs the 90% chance he's ta lking about the draft, whatever floats your boat. I just think 3 weeks before the draft...he might actually be talking about...the draft...

In which round were David Kreig, Kurt Warner, Warren Moon and Jeff Garcia drafted, Mr Knows Nothing but blabbers on a message board like a baboon??
