Bowles comments on our RBs and the RB Draft Class

Bowles says "deep RB class" in draft, lot of 3-down backs. Ivory and Powell are "good backs," but may look to add another. #nyj


This tells me we have 2 "good backs," but no complete 3 down backs on our roster. 51 said on another thread we may draft 2 backs, Im starting to think that is likely if we don't sign Ridley.

Couple things to consider -

1) Bowles doesnt appear to feel we have a complete back on the roster

2) Powell and Ivory are free agents after the season

3) we have no young RBs to really groom behind these 2 on the roster (maybe Richardson, but i dont feel he stops us from adding someone else).

I would say finding a #1 back in this draft is a high priority based on this comment, I now wouldn't be surprised if we take 2, which lends itself to...maybe trading down to acquire more picks so we get more than 6 players from this draft class...especially if 2 of the 6 are likely RBs.

I do think Gordon and Gurley are in play for the Jets...really do, with Duke Johnson being another name to watch. Very interesting indirect comments about how Mac and Bowles feel about our backs...in that we need help in this area, maybe a lot of help.

Gaily may not feel we have the #1 back for his system on the roster yet...that's something to think about too. Makes us not adding Spiller even more interesting/telling...

Im not concerned to have a "3 down back". The last Super Bowl winners, aside from Seattle with Lynch, had 2 and 3 backs alternating...

55, I think if we can move down in round one(especially if it's with the Browns or Saints and we end up with two first round picks), rb is definitely in play. If not, I could see taking one in round two and four.

I hope we can move down and would love getting 2 firsts but I dont think moving from 6 to 12 or 13 would also yield their other first...definitely their second plus I think the saints and browns want quantity but even for their second I would go to 12 or 13 respectively...it would be 3 picks top 40
