Not much for vocals but I think that you have to add Peter Gabriel to the list.
Then put that list aside and write down three names for a very special list ... Janis Joplin, Billie Holiday and Aretha Franklin .
Vocals can be an acquired taste, having said that, I never cared for JJ....or Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen(who I really can't stand) and others....but I like Tom Petty.
I was going to say that he missed Janis, but you nailed it with the big three Fud. Those three have no comparisons in today's music.
Since we are going there I want to find the universe with the group that has a rhythm section of Jaco and bonzo, Hendrix and Rhodes as the guitarists and Janis up front on the mic. (And for my own personal satisfaction, Jerry Bear helpin out with the rhythms on vocals and guitar.)I wonder what Janis would have done if she lived but they were getting her off the blues and making her more commercially viable, so it might have been one of those things like Genesis where only the early stuff is worthwhile.
However that's like saying what Namath would have done if he never hurt his knee at Alabama. Really need someone to make string theory practical to we can access the alternate universes t see![]()
