I need your crazy "OH MY GOD!" outside the box pick for the Jets at No. 6

Ok, not counting these 12 players, I need a wild, crazy, outside the box pick for the Jets at number 6 that might be at least plausible. So, the question is, other than these 12 players who seem to encompass all of the most likely options for the Jets at 6, give me 1 or 2 names that are plausible that would make the Jets fans go "OH MY GOD!!!"

QB Marcus Mariota Oregon
QB Jameis Winston FSU
WR Kevin White WVU
WR Amari Cooper Alabama
OL Brandon Scherff Iowa
DT Danny Shelton Washington
DL Leonard Williams USC
DE/LB Shane Ray Missouri
DE/LB Donte Fowler Florida
DE/LB Alvin Dupree Kentucky
LB Vic Beasley Clemson
LB Randy Gregory Nebraska

Who is your outside the box pick for the Jets at 6?

Don't know if it's an OMG pick, but I wouldn't be stunned to see the Jets select Andrus Peat at 6. The good OL players, D'Brick and Mangold, are getting older. The G situation is kind of a mess, and I don't like "Beano' at RT at all .

Except for C Peat can play all of the OL positions. IMO will start and be an upgrade at RT, or either guard position.

I know Jets fans will go crazy if pass rushers are on the board, and the Jets go OL, but I think for the long run, and a reasonably safe pick, it could be Peat

I don't think MacBowles will shoot the pooch for a Dewayne, Sanchez, Lageman or the like.

There are only really two on your exempt list I would feel are reaches and be disappointed with--Shelton and Dupree.

Any of the other nine, especially the two QBs, the two WRs, and Fowler or Beasley would have me leaping and high fiving

Bama S Landon Collins? Probably not plausible

Boy, that would be a stunner. Not entirely out of the realm of possibility. Gurley is one of the most talented RB's I have seen in quite awhile. Could be a game changer.

With that said, it is equality possible, as him being selected at 6, that with his knee injury he could be there at 37. Intriguing player

LOL

Selecting Bryce Petty at 6 would be a bit more then "out of the box" it would be certifiable.

Macc wouldn't be able to come back from Chi to NY. They wouldn't have banner planes flying over head, I suspect there would be assassins staking him. :)

Leonard Williams...if he falls that far. I know he is on the list..... but that would be my surprise pick

If Williams falls that far it would be a surprise. If the Jets took him it wouldn't be. He may be the best player in this draft............Maybe

just to answer the thread, as i don't think either are remotely likely, but i'd say either devonte parker or breshard perriman. you probably could add some of the o-lineman (peat, collins, erving)

Randy Gregory OLB simply because of the "risk factor".

Go Jets...Cyborg

Yeah, Gregory was listed, but that would be somewhat of a shocker. I don't know that Macc would want to ring in the new regime with such a risky pick. The talent is there, but multiple positive tests for weed is a red flag. We want Jack Lambert at OLB, not Bob Marley.

I agree with you on Gregory's risk factor, but still wouldn't be surprised if Macc/Bowles are blinded by the talent, and take him.

With that said I would rather roll the dice on Coples. That a lot of the near top of the NFL QB hurries, and hits, he had last season, turn into sacks with Revis and Cro back there giving him just another second or two to close the deal.

Would the OLB that we would essentially draft mean that Coples will have a lesser role or will he play opposite of Coples?

Hard to say with Bowles "Big Nickle" D. I read that last year on 78% of the plays he had 5 or more DB's on the field. On 50% he had 6 or more.

He doesn't seem to use LB'ers all that much for the pass rush, or even have them on the field except on running downs. It appears, much like Rex, he likes to use DB's coming from all angles.

Guess we'll have to wait for the season to see what he's going to do with the talent he has

In my opinion.....
1. Todd Gurley
2. Trae Waynes
3. Landon Collins

Waynes is interesting. Normally I would dismiss him as being a reach at 6, but Bowles does seem to love man to man corners. I do have a feeling they are going to surprise us with the pick at 6. I have a feeling that it's not going to be what appears to be obvious. A LB'er or WR

Coples should really take off this year. He's now seasoned enough to understand the NFL game, and yeah, with our secondary there should be more opportunities for our beasts up front to capitalize.

yep In Bowles D the 2 players I'm really expecting to have break out years, are Coples, and Pryor as the "Big Nickle"
