Calvin Pace talks sense into Jets fans who think Marcus Mariota, Jameis Winston would be a cure-all

Why is Calvin Pace commenting on what the Jets should do for their future?
Who the f*ck is Calvin Pace other than just another washed up Jet that can't get to the QB?
This whole team right now is just filled with guys trying to excuse the fact they are 2-11. I'm sorry but the only way the Jets can at least try to change the direction of this team is get an offensive guy in here, draft a QB & put some talent around him.
Decker, Harvin, Amaro, Ivory, is a good start.
Like others have said, maybe you take a QB in the 2nd? Take Cooper to take the top off the D & free up Decker & Amaro, keeps a safety out of the box which helps the run game.
I think the Jets need to go "all in" on offense, draft 1 stud receiver, resign Harvin to hopefully a reasonable contract, draft a QB, young RB to pair with Ivory & Olineman.
Fix the defense in FA. Resign Harris for 2 years (he's 31) shouldn't be to expensive as he's only a 2 down LB now anyway.
Hopefully whoever comes in to coach can find a bend don't break DC. There are many teams in this league with good records who have mediocre defenses, Especially in the AFC, Steelers, Chargers, Dolphins.
Win some games by just outscoring some teams, when's the last time the Jets did that? Favre.

Good point...and just look how Beckham has turned the Vaginas around and into a contending powerhouse team that lost to Jacksonville in only one brief season

Are you f*cking kidding me with that response!
99% of Jet fans would give their left testicle to have a player like Beckham. Our WRs issue would be solved if we had him.
Instead we have a player that can't get on the field.
If Odell Beckham was a Jet & made that catch he made you'd be all over it on these boards like everyone else.
Stop being a sh*t.

Respectfully disagree.

That catch and whatever other great catches he has made had the Giants until last week in contention for the same first pick in the draft that we will hopefully lock up with a thrashing tomorrow by the Titans and the two guaranteed ass beatings by NE and Miami.

We could have had Beckham and two other of the excellent rookie wideouts and with Gen0 at QB they would look.as crappy as the bums we currently have.

Last year we actually thought foolishly that the POS from WVU was developing into an NFL QB with those wins at the end of the season

We were foolish and wrong

I'm not here to pick a fight with you, You are a great poster and a terrific Jet fan. We both want the same things for this team. And thankfully when WRECKS and Gen0 lead us to 2-14 and we finally have an NFL QB for the first time since Chad was healthy in 2000-2001, our new GM and HC can start to build that team we all want

The Jets QB situation is awful. Yes, there are other holes, but we can pick up players in later rounds, and Stop gaps in FA.

It's true that both Mariota, and Winston have flaws, but they both also have an excellent upside. What rookie QB out side of Luck hasn't. Hardest position on the team to fill, and the most vital.

If either QB is available, take a swing. If you miss take a swing next year

With all due respect, I disagree. You cannot whiff on a top 5 pick. If, for example, Cooper is available I would consider picking him over either QB. While there is no suchthing as a "sure thing" I go with the greater % for success. If need be, take Brett Hundley from UCLA in the 2nd round.

In most cases I would agree. Don't gamble with a top ten pick. Not with a QB.

The worst thing that can happen is to have an early pick, and pass on a QB, because of some character flaws, and have him turn into a star, while you are sitting with a good team, a bad QB, and finishing 8-8.

Look at the Marino, O'Brien thing. Kenny O'Brian was a good QB, but he wasn't Dan Marino. Jets passed on him over some pot allegations, and went with the safe pick.

The changes the NFL has made in recent years makes having a top QB the most impactfull position by far. IMO if you have a QB that might be a franchise QB on the board, but he has some red flags. Take the swing. Hopefully you won't get that opportunity to pick top 5 in the draft again for awhile.

I can't argue with your rationale. I lived throught the O'Brien/Marino fiasco.

We both know Rex is a goner, and we both agree he's a large part of the problem here but Odell Beckham would have been an awesome piece to the offensive puzzle here.
Just imagine had we been able to pick him last year & Cooper this year!
Decker- Cooper-Beckham-Amaro
Damn!
Grab a 3rd round stud RB to pair with Ivory & the Jets would have been fun to watch an OC minded coach.
But, I guess we could still take Cooper, resign Harvin ( if he'll stay for less).

No new money for Harvin. It will be Holmes all over again

Actually, using Vernon Gholston is counter productive to your argument. Some people liked him I guess, but he had the rap on him of being a body builder who really didn't like football. He also had a terrible Bowl game. The rumors at the time was that the Jets desperately tried to trade the pick with no luck.

The point is in week 17 of the 2007 season the Jets won a meaningless game against the KC Chiefs. If they had lost that game they would have an opportunity to draft Matt Ryan, or either of the Longs. In a weak draft with only a few good players up top, draft position is everything.

Matt Ryan is currently 5-8 and last year they had what? 3 or 4 wins..

Great point. Last years Miami win knocked us out of the Odell Beckham sweepstakes and we might not have ended up with another defensive bust in Pryor.
5-6 years of that kind of bad luck gets you to 2-11.

Nobody expected the Giants to draft Beckham nor did draft analyst had him going that high. Most had him falling to the Jets. Most analyst ranked below Watkins, Lee, and Evans. Can't predict where players will fall and what teams are going to draft who and how that player will turn out.

No offense, but how can anyone root for the Jets to lose against the Dolphins, Patriots, or Bills. Would rather eliminate the Dolphins or any division rival off of playoff contention rather than worry about a higher draft pick. If the Jets lose that game Rex Ryan would of most likely would of been fired. Jets at #18 could of had Cooks or Benjamin? This could be said about almost every team who picks one player, over another.

Way too early to call Pryor a bust, the guy hasn't even played a single season in the NFL, thus the last of talent on secondary (CB's) are doing him no favors.

Thing is you would give a first rounder more money and years. Even with the rookie wage scale, it may be a tough contract if the player blows.
