Starting today and for the next two weeks, we will give you a position-by-position look at the top players in the 2015 NFL Draft through the eyes of the men who scout the players and make the picks.

Four top scouts and NFL executives, who all have earned a Super Bowl ring for their work, spoke to NJ Advance Media about the draft and helped rank the players. They requested anonymity because they weren't authorized to speak about players.

Here's an alphabetical look at the top five quarterbacks. For their rankings and what team they might go to, click through the slideshow at the bottom.

Garrett Grayson, Colorado State
Measurables: 6-2, 213, 4.60
Stats: Threw for over 7,600 yards the past two years.
Scouts Say: "No, I don't want him. Some team might, but it won't be us.'' ..."We weren't impressed. There's too much that needs to be done.'' ..."Good arm, pretty accurate, too. He just needs to work on mechanics and things like that. He'll be OK.'' ..."If he went to Alabama or Oregon, you would have heard a lot more about him. I think he's going to be pretty good.''

Brett Hundley, UCLA
Measurables: 6-3, 226, 4.63
Stats: Career 75 TDs, 25 interceptions
Scouts Say: "I don't want to kill him, but he's just not that good.'' ..."There are tools there, but he needs time, a lot of time. He's not ready to play.'' ..."There are just too many flaws in his game.'' ..."We're not high on him at all.''

Bryce Petty, Baylor
Measurables: 6-3, 230, 4.87
Stats: 62 TDs and 10 interceptions the past two years.
Scouts Say: "He's not the guy you looking for, at least we aren't.'' ..."It looks like he just locks in one receiver every play. I'm not sure how good he is reading a defense.'' ..."He gets rid of the ball quickly, which is good. But there's not much else I like.'' ..."He had some really good players around him, which made him look a little better than he is.''

Marcus Mariota, Oregon
Measurables: 6-4, 222, 4.52
Stats: 42 TDs and four interceptions last season.
Scouts Say: "In a word, great. He's the best I've seen since (Andrew) Luck. He's everything you want.'' ..."He has it all. If we had the first pick, he'd be ours. But we don't.'' ..."The only knock we have on him, is he's a thrower, not a passer. But he'll work on that. He'll be real good.'' ..."What I like best about him is he's a hard worker. He'll put in the time. That's more important than people realize.''

Jameis Winston, Florida State
Measurables:6-4, 231, 4.90
Stats: After throwing 40 TDs and 10 interceptions in 2013, he threw 25 TDs and 18 interceptions last year.
Scouts Say: "The turnovers bother me as much as the off the field stuff.'' ..."If you can get by the off the field stuff, and we can't, he's really good.'' ..."If he doesn't mature, he's not going to be playing in this league. He has the talent to play, but he needs to grow up in a hurry.'' ..."It's not like we would be in line to take him, anyway, but we don't go near guys like him. There's just too much there.''

That last part should scare you, cause these guys are privy to the background checks. When he says "too much there", is he referring to the stuff we all know, or the stuff we in the general public do not know?

Ill accept Mariota..but I don't want anything to do with Winston>>VERY OVERRATED..turnovers.....and off field stuff..an idiot takes him early....

Elias - thanks for sharing.

With Winston I think you're looking at a guy with a ceiling like Big Ben or McNair but a floor of J Russell or Manziel. He is a scary prospect.

Mariota I think could turn into Rodgers if patient and he develops...or Alex Smith if he doesn't reach his ceiling.

Grayson reminds me of Garrapolo from last year's draft. He does some thing very well and has some tools to work with, but also has a lot of areas for improvements and will need to ride the pine and develop a year or 2 to determine if he's a life time back up or the next Brad Johnson.

I'm getting a Tahj Boyd feeling from Hundley. I don't think I want Any part of him.

Petty reminds me of Matt Scott QB Ari St a couple years ago. Another kid with some tools, grit, effort, and mobility but lacks polish. Another prospect you'll need to be patient with just to determine if he can play or will be a lifetime backup.

What stinks most about this draft is almost all the QBs are sit and wait prospect. Only Winston has the basic QB skills to play in the NFL, which is kind of sad. I think most of these QBs will be lifetime backups.

This makes it look like Mariota is the only legitimate prospect, taking both risk and potential into account, in this class. I know he's a polarizing choice, but I think if he's there to be had at 6 or with a reasonable trade up, he's the guy. Passing on him and watching him play well for 15 years in CHI would bother me...a lot.

Would be interesting to see what the Jets scouts are saying, but I suppose that will happen in later this month

The problem with any of these is that anyone picked will be a rookie QB, and the Jets just built the team with a lot of vets.

Mariota's clearly my favorite of the class, but even I think this analysis may be skewed a bit too much toward him. It's straight from the scouts, but I would imagine it's somewhat selective.

First, there are at least 32 team scouts assigned to Oregon...this article has about 3 opinions per QB.

Second, each team runs a different offense and looks for different traits in their QB. Maybe they all looks for the same mechanics...but Seattle runs a very dumbed down, basic offense, that has been described as a glorified high school offense (even the pick in the Super Bowl was the 7th time they called that exact play in the game). What Roman's offense needs for the Bills, vs what Bevell runs in Seattle, vs what Reid runs in KC, vs what Chip runs for the Eagles are all VERY VERY different...so 3 scouts opinions isnt enough when they are all looking for different qualities in a QB.

3) Its just nice reading for the casual fan, but still interesting to see some scouts thoughts, even if their thoughts may not apply to our team at all...

my 2 cents

Agreed. This is just scratching the surface of what scouts truly think about these QBs. Good reading for the draftnik, but the value is somewhat limited.

Guys, this is the only time I'm going to comment on it because it's all so silly.

This reminds me of the weeks leading into the '98 draft when people started questioning Peyton's arm strength and talking about how Ryan Leaf is the better prospect. Or a couple years ago when "scouts" started claiming that Robert Griffin was the superior prospect to Andrew Luck.

99% of the time trust the INITIAL information on these kinds of things. The late "rumors" and "buzz" and "inside sources" are almost always BS, misdirection, and intentionally made up to generate draft interest. The draft would be a bore if we all knew ahead of time where each player would go. Adding intrigue and late rumors where players are moving around the board is lapped up like milk by fans. Sometimes I honestly wonder how much money people like Jaws get paid by ESPN to start the rumors of "inside reports that Mariota is going #1" or "Mariota is actually the better prospect afterall" to drive ratings for the draft.

Let's get back to basics here. One guy has yet to produce any film of him throwing "anticipatory" passes that he will be asked to do on a daily basis in the NFL. He has tools; yes. But does he have John Elway tools? No. Whoever drafts him will be making a gamble that he can adapt to do things cerebrally that he never had to do in college. EJ Manuel has all the tools but can't do it, despite being a bright guy. Not saying Mariota can't do it, but we just don't know yet.

I will bet my house that Winston still goes #1 and finds success in the NFL much earlier than Mariota. Could i be wrong? Sure. But I am willing to stake my reputation on this site that I'm not.

Brett Hundley visiting Cardinals, working out for Chargers

The Cardinals watched the league’s hottest start go pffft when they ran out of quarterbacks last year, so it makes sense that they’d want to restock.

Toward that end, they’re taking a look at one of the second-tier quarterbacks in the 2015 NFL Draft (a group which begins after the first two).

Via Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley is visiting the Cardinals today.

Hundley grew up in nearby Chandler, and played the kind of efficient football at UCLA last year (only five interceptions in 392 attempts) that is endearing him to teams that aren’t getting in the Jameis Winston/Marcus Mariota derbies.

The Cardinals are set for a starter for the near-term in Carson Palmer, but they’re clearly looking around for the future. Whether they’re interested enough to use the 24th pick on a guy such as Hundley when they have other more immediate needs to fill is the bigger question.

Hundley’s also working out for the Chargers in Los Angeles tomorrow, a trip fraught with symbolism on several levels.

Jameis Winston - QB - Player
Appearing on ESPN Radio Tuesday morning, Adam Schefter said if the Bucs are picking today they would take Florida State QB Jameis Winston.
Schefter allowed that things can still change with more than two weeks until the draft. But for now, he was adamant in shooting down various reports and rumors that Marcus Mariota is moving ahead of Winston on Tampa's board. Our draft analyst Josh Norris has Mariota ahead of Winston on his Big Board, accessible at the link below.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist but would anyone really put it past ESPN to pay Jaws a big, fat bonus check for him to float out this info? He may damage his credibility but they pay him a lot of money to do so. These are the kinds of rumors that drive TV ratings for the draft and makes ESPN a ton of money.

Greg Cossell is my favorite player breakdown talent evaluator. He stated today if he had to pick between Zach Metenberger or Jamies Winston today for his football team, he would take Mettenberger.

Cosell is good...every week during football season, on Colin Cowherd show, he breaks down 2 important, yet subtle plays during the course of pivotal games the previous week. He is a very knowledgeable guy. If he says that..I take it to the bank..he has no skin in the game..and Metzenberger really hasnt played much

Oh but when he played, the kid looked awesome. He shredded Houston in his first start, a top 10 D, and then had monster weeks vs Steelers and Eagles despite a few weeks of tape being put on him and garbage to throw to...sad a mid Rd pick last year would be the top QB in this draft class. I think Mettenberger is going to be really good.

You know who Cossells favorite WR is in this class? Perriman...compares him to Julio Jones.

I know its a QB thread..but I think you can put all these WR in a hat and pull one of 8 out..there really isnt that much separating them..thats why I hope we go defense first...albeit if the QB thing happens...I think Cooper/White/Parker/Perriman/Strong/DGB/Coates etc....all in same boat..all dependent somewhat on QB
