no let's get this back on topic the fact is the only way i see geno beating fitz out is if chan really designs the offense around him. Makes him a player like he did kordell stewart.

AMEN buddy! Look, angry posts aside, Jets fans really do need SOMETHING to look forward to and all knowledgeable Jets fans know the NFL is a QB driven league. Maccagnan is building what appears to be a pretty decent team, but unless they get that QB it's all for not. Playoffs are possible, but the opal prize will always be out of reach.
Complete Smoke screen IMHO about the Jets targeting Mariota. I honestly think and wish that it's Bryce in the 2nd or a trade up back in the 1st round. The guy fits perfectly in Chan's system like no other QB in this draft.
There really hasn't been much chatter about Bryce and the Jets except for the usual visit. I'am convinced that the Jets will go full offense in this draft. WR in the 1st, QB inthe 2nd and RB in the 3rd.
I honestly feel we will trade down and acquire more picks to fill more needs as well.

The way I see it Dan they will both need to be coached up and Mannion will cost us less in the draft. Mannion also fits better in to my QB mold so I would be happier with him.
Holy crap, Nick...don't those names feel bargain basement? Like a clearance sale because all other QBs are sold.
Like I have said before I prefer no part of Grayson and if we can't land Winston or Mariota I would not mind a mid to late pick flyer on Mannion to see what kind of magic Gailey can perform on him in a year or so.
I'll have to respectfully disagree. What i've seen with Mannion is a consistant issue with his accuracy and the guy continuously back peddles to many times, and thats on a college level. He has all the tools like our current QB on the team though they also share the below average mental fortitude between the ears.
Bryce on the other hand is as built as they come. Strong mind, the guy displays leadership on and off the field. One of the strongest arms in the draft. He has tremendous accuracy, I see alot of Andy Dalton but with a higher ceiling if we could steal him in the second.
Personally, i'd trade back into the late 1st to acquire his services. I have him rated very high.
I have said previously Petty is the 3rd QB I would take in this draft. My response was made as a response to Grayson vs Mannion. I stand by wanting Mannion in that scenario.
All the Qbs in college are very difficult to evaluate...the offenses dominate, they play wide open offense, and the defenses suck in college.....I would lean heavily on physical AND mental AND maturity attributes because it is such a learning curve...
I wouldn't touch Winston with a 10 foot pole if he went to 6
Gotta be honest, I'd go with Grayson. He has more mobility and better accuracy when evaluating both of them equally.
I look at Grayson more of a Romo than anything else. He has that type of potential. Though with Mannion I see a lot of Brandon Weeden in his game. Nice long throw but very inconsistent in his intermediate game.

I think it doesn't matter. If we draft anyone not named Winston or Mariota, next year's draft class is stacked at QB and the jets will look at one of them rd 1 next year. If we draft Mannion, Hundley, Grayson, or Petty...be ready for QB to be the hot discussion for the jets for the 2016 draft...
I am not high on him either. I prefer to pass on both Hundley and Grayson.
Thats exactly why I wouldnt touch any QB early....get the WR give the kid and Fitz a cpl weapons and let it play out with a great defense.....if you get Petty, Grayson, mannion..at least for now what are we talking about ?? backup fodder without injuries...and the SAME discussion, like you alluded to would permeate the 2016 draft discussions...
I just think in most years these guys are 5th-7th Rd picks that are 3rd string development projects...not sure they are an answer to any of our QB concerns beyond who may take Simms job...they seem like Tahj Boyd 2.0, so I'd prefer not to take them high...
