To me, the number 6 pick, if the board falls the way Mayock thinks, is all about what GOOD problem would you like to have?

The Jets look pretty good in the WR department IMO. Do they need a WR? Yes. But I was thinking more along the lines of a 4th rounder. In other words, I believe Marshall and Decker can serve us well for at least the next couple seasons. We can get another big time WR later on in future drafts.

I don't believe it, but I have heard from many Jets fans that we are all set at the OL. Those voices are telling me that Colon is a stud that played very well last season and with the addition of Carpenter we will be very good in the running game and also better at pass blocking.

But there are also sure to be options for BAP at number 6 in the OT department. Sherff or Peat IMO would be excellent and safe picks at number 6.

For me, with two areas that are supposedly "well stocked", it is all about which GOD problem would you like to have?

For me that is the OL. Winning at the LOS is Football 101. I would want to go with an OT if we plan on selecting player at number 6.

With that said under that scenario, I would prefer the Jets just trade down. We can still get a great OL, OLB, QB, or WR later in the 1st and get great value. Not to mention we have more picks and can potentially fill more need areas and still taking the BAP.

We should draft the BPA regardless of position. If that's a WR so be it we will have more bodies in case of injuries. Look what happened last year when Decker went down the next man up was slim picking. We need to trust Mac

MY TOP 5 AVAILABLE FOR THE JETS IN ROUND 2

1. Shane Ray, ER, Missouri
2. Eddie Goldman, NT, Florida State
3. Donovan Smith, OT, Ohio State
4. Eli Harold, ER, Virginia
5. Tevin Coleman, RB, Indiana

Eric Rowe should be # 3, but we simply can't draft a CB this high.

However, he can also play FS, so if thats where the Jets want to project him, then its an option here.

in round 2 i'd take a shot at ray. also really like tevin coleman. harold would be solid consulation prize for pass rusher if ray goes.

also, mayock made the correct pick based on how that board fell

I agree that an OL, preferably a tackle, is a need pick for the Jets. Brick is getting older, and Giacomini is average at best. No arguments about Peat or any of the higher rated tackles.

But value-wise, it just isn't there at the 6 spot. Unless we trade back, an OT isn't being picked at 6.

Regarding Mayock's pick for the Jets, I would be down with that pick. Absolutely love White. Our receivers would be sick.

I love this pick of White at #6 . My order of preference would be:

Fowler Jr
Cooper
White
Beasley
Mariota
Best o-linemen

So this will work perfectly because he has Fowler Jr and Cooper being picked already. Ofcourse Winston would be the #1 option if he was available but he is gone to the Bucs.

I just don't see Cooper going to the Jags. With a team that has so many holes to fill wide receiver is at the bottom of that list

I just don't see the Jets taking White......that's where they might trade down. Cooper, yes. It's tough to call as there are a couple names that will dictate change of plans for picking and/or cause trades. No way Leonard Williams makes it to the Jets, but if he did then I definitely see a deal happening. Raiders should take Cooper but IMO that's based on Williams being already gone.....so if he isn't then OAK might bite. That should drop Cooper to the Jets. Or if by some miracle the Raiders think White's speed makes him a better WR and they bypass Cooper.

personally I don't think Mayock understands the QB position very well. He loved Gabbert. Loves Cam Newton. Likes Mariota over Winston. Likes Bortles. I'm not sure he sees that landscape very well and thus picking a WR at #3 to me seems like a bad guess on his part. They have enough talent already at the position. It's the QB that needs to improve. I still saw too much 'college' in Bortles last year......had the propensity to pull it down as if to run too often. He needs to develop and that will enhance his WR corp. I don't see them letting Williams get by them.

Who plays the slot if we take White?

Not that thats a bad problem, but.....
