By far and away the WORST pick in this draft. A real head scratcher. This team has DL up the ying yang and yet we feel the need to add yet another. This is a complete waste of a 7th round selection.

Exactly right. My 1st reaction was exactly the sane when I heard the pick. You can see it in this thread. I did not know anything about the player all I saw was DT. Then I read up on him. He is actually a need because he plays NT and from what I have read has the chance to be very good at it. All D-lineman are not the same just because we are stocked elsewhere does not mean a good backup NT was not needed.
HYATT™ found Josh Sitton EXACTLY that way.Good Observation, Nick, sometimes it does happen exactly that way, he start of scouting one player and another one jumps off the screen at you. A lot of scouts will tell you they found players like that.

The thing about pipelines is, they don't much care who's oil gets put in them, where it came from, or what type of oil it is.Macc made a comment about "always having a pipleline of OLBs for the 3-4", but it sure looks like the DL pipeline took priority this year . . .

All pipelines care about is where what's in them, ends up.
HYATT™ thinks the NJ pipeline is doing a pretty effective job of delivering ALL of it's oil these days.
Might some of you prefer North Sea Brent light crude over Venezuelan heavy sulfur crude?
Perhaps, but to the diesel idling in NJ, it all burns pretty much the same and keeps the engine running smoothly.
Exactly right.
We lost Kendrick Ellis who was our backup NT a year ago, and what do we really know about TJ Barnes?
Also our starting NT, Damon Harrison, will be a free agent after this year, and with the money we have to pay Mo, Sheldon and Williams, its highly unlike we can pay Snacks too, and it doesn't matter how stacked we are elsewhere, only these few have the size and strength to play 3-4 NT, and thats where Simon projects.
MJ, which OT did you prefer that we draft with that 7th RD Pick, can we have a specific name?
If you are going to argue that we should have taken an OT instead, its only fair you tell us which one you had in mind?
I didn't see any OT's on the board in that spot who were the answer to anything, but maybe I missed it.
I know you didn't say it in that post, but you've been railing against this pick since we made it and you've said elsewhere that we should have taken a OT, or maybe I'm mistaken about that, if I am I apologize.I never said we should have used the 7th rounder on an OT. Re-read my post. I said we could have used it on a FB or a punter, etc.
I added on to my post saying that the Jets got a "B" in their draft partly because they did not address OT - a major need IMO.

No problem, Ham... And I will freely admit you know a lot more about the draft than I do. You are a drantnik in my estimation. But you can't be telling me there weren't other, more pressing needs than another Dlineman, can you?
The 7th round is where you pick up a FB, punter, kicker, and those are greater NEEDS IMO that could still provide good value.
I definitely agree that we had bigger needs to fill on this years roster, no question about it, but NT has the potential to become a problem as early as next year and Mac was just being proactiveNo problem, Ham... They CHOSE to draft a NT when the fact is we do not have to pay the house to Snacks. Snacks contract will certainly NOT prevent us from signing Mo and Sheldon, Snacks will get chump change in comparison.
Kendrick Ellis was a 3rd round pick that never lived up to expectations, so we're are saving a bundle by letting him go anyway in comparison to what Snacks and Barnes will come for.
You and others are grasping at straws here. Just tell it like it is. Just because it's your team and mine does not mean we can't call a spade a spade.
They also completely neglected OT - a major need for this team IMO. So I'll pass on giving the Jets an "A". They got a "B" and that is completely objective as far as I can tell.
