This was one of the Main reasons i didn't want him. Especially what we did to Mark & Geno and forcing the his development process. I would have loved him here, but the pressure would be insurmountable to start him, especially with Geno not being the answer.
This is why i was lobbying for Petty (in the 2nd, i know i know ie in face), because the coaching staff will have the luxury of helping him grow and develop into the true potential he truly has. In essence, this new regime has learned from the previous one on how not to groom a QB.

I honestly feel Whisenhunt should have bit his tongue because at this moment, he just ruffles another young current QB on that teams confidence in Mettenberger, who may now truly ask for a trade, amid his agent denying reports.

Titans should trade Mettenberger to the Browns. They could probably get a good player straight up or a 3rd round pick at least. Mariota will probably have a ruff first year. If he can survive that, I'm sure it will be much better year two and he'll be just fine from then on.
Whisenhunt is making the same mistake so many other teams make with a raw, but talented QB. Throwing him into the fire right away. I believe this is a huge mistake. It could potentially ruin the kid. He needs time getting his mind away from the gimmick and more towards NFL-style offense. The Jets are being smart. Groom Petty for a year or two. He's a product of "gimmick", too. College football video game offense. These kids need work. Let them learn.
Rogers sat for 3 years behind Favre that's unheard of in today's game for a 1st rd pick.. But it no doubt did him a world of good learning the Pro game that way.. You can only do that if you have a Franchise QB with some good year left in him like Favre did though.. Sitting for 2 years helped Romo as well and Cassell plated well after sitting 3 years when he got to start when Brady went down in 2008.
I just thought it'd be wise for him to sit because of how everyone was saying how he's not NFL ready. We shall see.

Metz and mariotta two different QB's maybe they are planning to tailor their game plan to his style.

IMO Mariota will be fine and do pretty well right from the gitgo

Passing over Leonard Williams has put a lot of pressure on this franchise and especially F.O. to start him immediately. GM Ruston Webster is going into his 4th yr of "re-building" the franchise and they still are picking 2nd in the draft. He's got to do something to take the spotlight off him and buy some time.
Williams or Cooper would have been the more logical "Play Now" candidates and should have an impact in their rookie yr. Thank heavens Williams fell to us. Would have preferred Cooper but he was my 1A.

I hope they mess him up.
The Titans play in the AFC. As the Jets get better and better. They, hopefully, become a playoff team year in and year out. The last thing i want to see is a franchise QB for another team the Jets have to try and beat every year.
How many years of Brady,Manning, Rothleistberger's must fans have to endure.
I'd rather the Jets be that team the other teams worry about.
