It varies by organization.
Some GMs rely very heavily on scout input in making their board, and on going through it in real rime during the draft to make changes.
Indy, under Dungy/Caldwell & Polian, shared a LOT of the draft duties as a triumvirate, with scouts having almost an equal voice as the GM & HC - and that worked quite well for them, getting to 2 Super Bowls in 4 years & 3 AFCC games in 8 seasons.
They never had less than 10 wins and had 9 consecutive playoff berths (9-8) from '02-'10.

Other GMs are a bit more autocratic, and they make every decision without much regard for the feelings of their scouts.
(King Jerry up until a couple years ago, when he gave his son Steven a lot more control - which seems to be working out better for DAL - and there has been a vast improvement in AZ since Bill Bidwell's kids [Michael & Bill Jr.] took the reigns in 2007 and started using their scouts' advice more.)
Does anyone honestly believe either Carroll or Hoodie listen to anyone except their own demons?
Yet they have been extremely successful lately.

It doesn't really seems to matter, as long as it works for that team, though HYATT™ suspects scouts have some limited effect on the final product, in most cases.
In the end, the buck stops on the GM's desk however, & they will do what they have to do to keep their job.

I'm confused ? I thought terminated Terry Bradway was VP and Jeff Bauer was in charge of College scouting ? Who are these guy's ?

Go Jets...Cyborg

I agree..a little confused..but I guess there is a lot of "overlapping responsibilities" in the scouting world

I have no problem letting Macc pick his own guys, but it does seem kinda weird to praise the Jets draft then fire the guys who helped make it happen . . .

They probably did do a good job..but MACCG does not know them for most part and wanted his own guys

I have to say the FO additions/firings have as much impact as our FA signings and draft picks.

They had Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Edgerin James, Robert Mathis, and Dwight Freeney too.
And who do you suppose DRAFTED all those players, including Middle Manning?
Polian, of course, with Mora/Dunge at HC at the time.
Mora used the same system as Dunge later did, so it's not really any different.

Brian Shields, who scouted west coast for Rams, has taken scouting job with New York Jets. Talented, young scout.

WTF - doesnt it feel like MAC is on fire...even our biggest hater reporters seem to be scoring everything he's done so far as an A.

Its been a blessing the entire Idzik/Rex marriage to let the team fall in his lap at this state. I think he made the right choicer to reject coming here 3 years ago and waiting till now.
