Pathetic. But completely expected. The Patriots have a credibility factor that teams like the Jets don't have. If the Jets were pulling shit like this, they'd be mocked, scorned, tarred and feathered. This is a fact.

Boston media types like Shaughnessy are being harder on Brady than Greenberg is.
Shaughnessy has BRASS BALLS, a rare journalist who doesn't play to the mob, who doesn't think its his job to wave the pom-poms for all things Boston and look the other way when they do something wrong, thats why he's probably the most hated columnist in all of NE. He's also a brilliant wordsmith, truly the last of a dying breed. I read him columns and I LOL.

Focus at the NFL SHOULD be on breaking rules and covering up. Pats giving middle finger to the Shield. Cant allow that.

Alleged Jet "fan" Greenberg is the only media jackass Jet "fan" even worse than Benigno. And yes, he has been bending over and spreading his cheeks for Kraft, Belishit and Brady for more than a decade

His pro Patriots argument should be no surprise to Jet fans

Greenberg is a tool. He's always going out of his way to make sure he doesn't sound like a Jets homer, by mocking the Jets and excusing everything the Cheatriots do.

Its too bad too, he's otherwise easy to like and I enjoy the show, but the degree to which he bends over backwards to patronize the Patriots and their whiney fans is insufferable, when he gets on that kick I have to change the channel.

Unfortunately, the Jets get that treatment even playing within the rules.

What galls me is the Pats are playing every angle at the same time, even though they conflict.

"It was the weather"
"Everyone does it"
"It doesn't affect the game"
"It was an NFL sting which tarnishes the validity of the report"
"It doesn't say we absolutely did it"

It's like they're trying every tactic in the book at once hoping either on will stick or they'll cloud the issue so much the media and fans will just get tired and let it go (fat chance of that).

Had they just come out from the start with a single story like "TB wanted the balls at the legal minimum of 12.5 and did not know that any were underinflated. It was wrong but not ill-intended" we would have called bull but at least they could have stuck to the story and avoided all the pathetic "I didn't steal the cookie that's still in my mouth" idiocy.

But that's what this team is. So arrogant they can't admit wrongdoing, but would rather die on the hill of false innocence. I wonder if the NFL will ever tire of the fact that half the time there is an issue like this, it's the same team over and over.

Good Question, at what point do the other owners stop covering for the Patriots because they want to protect their brand?

Thats what this really comes down too, they don't want to create the impression that the league is, for lack of a better word, fugazy, that even its championships are tarnished, but the Patriots keep pushing the envelop and forcing the other owners to cover for or minimize their chicanery. At what point do they say enough is enough?

My guess is that even if Goodell wants to let his girlfriend Kraft and the serial cheaters off with another slap on the wrist, there are 31 owners who won't allow it.

The Rams, Panthers, Eagles and Seahawks have all been screwed out of Superbowls and the rest of the owners have had to sit and watch the Scumbags run up the score for a decade.

The sweep under the rug is a dog that won't hunt in this latest case of proven, arrogant violation of NFL playing rules

What galls me the most, is Kraft's "no incontrovertible evidence" statement. This is like when the cops bring in the suspect and she says "you cant prove anything....you got nothing on me...." Guilty.

The NFL Sirius guys said that Brady & the Patriots are guilty on nothing. I'm not believing that. GUILTY, suspend Brady 2 games and take the #1 draft pick away next season, and fine Kraft a million bucks.

Go Jets...Cyborg

Fine the Pats at least whatever the Ted Wells investigation cost

Plus some suspension and pick punishment.

Respect the shield.

I'm thinking Goodell is just sitting back watching which way the wind is blowing hoping it is in the Pats favor before he comes out with the penalty phase of this investigation. He might even be doing some polling to see how light of a penalty he can hit the Pats with and get away with.

This passage here is one where Ted Wells seems to call for the Patriots (as a team) to be sanctioned ...

I really hope the other owners make sure they don't let Goodell punish them lightly

OK. Let's get something straight here. The wording used in the report is exactly the wording in the rules that state the requirement for proving the rules have been broken. Not only the Pats, but the general news media, have made a great deal about the wording, something like "more likely than not", or "more probable than not." But that is exactly the standard described in the rules for proving that the rules were in fact broken. So when the report says Brady more likely than not knew that the ball guys were deflating the balls, that means the report is saying Brady definitely broke the rules. Not that he might have broken the rules, but that he did in fact break the rules. So if Goodell says anything that implies that Brady might not have broken the rules and so applies a lesser punishment, that is a total whitewash. In summary, the report says Brady definitely broke the rules, and the punishment should be commensurate with definitely breaking the rules, not a maybe. The report was intentionally worded the way it was so as to leave no doubt. Period.
